Sorry bud, I think you misunderstood what he was saying a little bit. Assuming you both danced, one with and one without the bar, and you both got the same score, you wouldn't be equal? At least that is what you are saying. Think about it, you both danced on your feet. Both read the arrows at the same time. Both had to dance as fast. The only difference is one of you was smart and used the bar. If the other guy who didn't think's he hot sh!t, why didn't he use the bar and get a better score? All you people who don't use the bar need to get over yourselves. You ain't that damn hot.*
Tabz wrote: | I think it does matter. It means that one person got the score on their own and the other person needed the aid of the bar in order to achieve it. Maybe it doesn't make them "better than you" but they had to do a lot more work in order to achieve the same score you did. |
Its like skiing. Some use poles, some don't. You don't see anybody saying that crap you just said about DDR players to them. But I guess its just the fact that most skiiers are older than the DDR crowd. Who knows. _________________

Maesce: ... your post doesn't really make sense man. Everyone can agree that it takes more skill to AAA max300 without the bar, than AAAing it with it. The bar gives you an edge, so the skill level of the 2 players is different. Players who don't use the bar don't think they're hot... at least I don't. It's like playing any games with mods or codes or anything. Anyway, I just don't use the bar because it makes it easier. I don't say people shouldn't bar-rape, they can play how they want, but you can't compare a bar-raper with a non-bar raper. _________________

a AAA is a AAA whether you played 1x no bar, 3x solo with the bar, or 8x shuffle stealth while freestyling and eating a piece of chicken. _________________

I bar-rape probably about 50% of the time, most of the time I have at least one hand on the bar. I almost always use 1.5x speed mods, as well, unless the song is already fast (Across The Nightmare, etc.).
I admit, both of these make it easier to me, but if someone else comes in, uses 1x, and refuses the bar, and challenges me, and I beat them, I still beat them. They chose not to use mods or the bar, and they got a lower score, I was just smart enough to give myself an edge.
(Although I'm finding the speed mods aren't really helping me much anymore, for some reason)
Also, to everyone who says the bar makes you look stupid, NO ONE looks good playing DDR. I've never even seen a freestyler look good playing DDR, you're furiously hitting 4 panels, it's impressive to some, but it definately doesn't look good. |

Well said, reminds me of the miss pacman 20th anniversery edition. On that version you can continue. I hate that some noob can can come in and just continue till he gets a high score compared to someone who really good and earns same high score in ONE game.
So what Rickidi makes alot sense.

I think I've seen maybe 3 posts saying using the bar is HARDER than not using the bar. People have even said that using the bar is easier. I don't think anyone here can truly say that using the bar is harder (unless you're like 4'0").
I bar rape only on doubles - PSM Oni, sometimes LoM and MaxX, that's about it, and I can sure as hell tell you the bar makes it WAY easier, almost an unfair advantage.
When there are instructions on how to play on the screen, I've never seen them grab and rape the bar. Weird. |

Here's my justification for disliking bar users, or just using the bar in general.
Firstly, it's unnatural. When you're dancing while not playing DDR or even playing at your home I'm assuming there isn't always a metal bar propped behind you. Not using the bar keeps things more natural, letting your body flow as you play.
Second, the bar doesn't let you test your skill and physical talent. When you play DDR it's not only to have fun, but you want to test yourself and get better. When you use the bar it's not an accurate measure of how good your personal skill really is because you're receiving outside aid when playing.
Lastly, and this is a combination point, the bar doesn't give you the full experience, fun factor or benefits of DDR. Using the bar while playing isn't the way to get the full experience. If you're leaning back and holding onto a bar while dancing and only using your legs I don't feel you have as much fun as you would be if you were using your entire body and moving with the music, so you miss out on the full experience of the game. Plus, if you're trying to increase your stamina, lose weight or get in shape then some of the benefit is lost when not utilizing the upper body.
As if I have to say it, but, I haven't, don't and never intend to use the bar at any time for as long as I play DDR. |

The proper solution is to do away with the bar entirely...
But of course, that's not gonna happen. Last thing Konami needs is a lawsuit from some dumbass who falls off the pad backwards... |

When they do instruct you on the screen, it tells you to put your feet back to to the middle after every step, yet I've not seen a single competent DDR player do that, weird.
How the game instructs you to play is not a valid argument in the least bit. |

I want to see someone play a pie (not bag or Sakura, though), and beat it doing that. I would cry of laughter. |

I definetely didn't mean hating the person as a person. I wasn't going to even type that, but I left it in hoping nobody would mistake what I meant. The fact still stands that I very much hate the bar, though.
As for the point about people using the bar because they just want to play, I understand that, and I'm not trying to define the game for everyone but then when you see everyone talking about how good they are and constantly trying to get the highest score possible and master every song, then I can't agree with people not playing to test themselves and see what they can do. I don't mean to push a meaning on people, but if you really think about it, why else would anybody even care what songs they can do and how well they can do them if they're just doing it for fun?
And, this is going to come across very asinine but, the game is called Dance Dance Revolution. So, you can't tell me that the game isn't about dancing. Now, I never said anything about dancing being compared to hitting four panels with only your legs. I think people would agree that if you're playing by being completely stationary and only moving your lower body then not only are you missing out on more fun, but you probably don't do as well as people who really move their body, stay on beat and get into the music. It's just easier and more natural, which is what my point really is in this case. _________________
