Does anyone here play doubles using soft pads?
I have the generic pad that came with my DDR Max 2 pack, and I have it stapled down to a plywood sheet. I thought about getting a second pad, stapling it down, and making a mechanism to attach the two together.
But I was told that playing doubles this way would wear out the pads MUCH FASTER then standard play would, and would be way too innaccurate for someone who plays in the arcade and at home.
So, has anyone tried this? Can it work? |

Any amount of play will wear out a Soft Pad, i matter just how much you wrinkle it, rip it, etc.
A friend of mine has done what you did (except, both pads are on a long slab of wood, covered, stapled, taped, and everything), and only one of his Soft Pads have gone out. I think he said, he's had them since Konamix. However, he recently replaced it with a Party Collection Pad-in-a-bucket . _________________

I do think it's possible to wear them out faster in Doubles, depending on your play style.
Think about your movement in Singles. Your feet are usually going straight down or very close to it. In Doubles, you're moving back and forth, and your momentum will carry in your feet as you're hopping from side to side. In the fractional seconds between the time your foot hits the groun it'll have traction on the pad and pull it laterally. _________________
