I have noticed that after dancing awhile, the bottom of my feet HURT! I have a redoctane 2.0 pad, and I play on a carpet underneath it. I play on standard and heavy on songs like Healing vision Midnight Blaze Dream a dream, AfroNova, Brilliant 2u and others. Anyone know why my feet hurt after only acouple songs? And does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks alot for all who answer. _________________

This'll probably sound stupid, but it probably will help you. Go to a pharmacy and buy a pair of Dr. Scholl's arch support inserts (or a knockoff brand). Wear them inside your socks. Use athletic tape to hold them in place, if necessary. You should notice a big difference. |

Maybe you are stomping too hard.
Do you step on the balls of your feet or do you step flat footed? |

Most people when they start out are satisfied with just hitting the arrows any old way with their feet, but once you work your way up there either your feet have to get stronger, or you have to learn how to step better. _________________

Well, I Think I use the balls of my feet to play... its hard to do the faster songs flatfoot. at least for me.... I dont know, I did leave one piece of info out though, I play barefooted because i dont want to hurt my pad with shoes, and when i wear socks it causes me to slip and slide when i do some of the faster beats. Maybe I just need to get better, but I have played for2 or 3 years, but i just recently started going into it harcore.... Maybe I just need to strengthen my feet.... _________________

Man, you're a living being, not a robot. Of course your feet are going to hurt if you do DDR for a long time. _________________

See, for me, it is the other way around, but only because I step on the metal part of the pad, not the arrows. I never have sore feet while playing on a soft pad. I get calluses, however, from playing so much. _________________

I am the same way. I can play for hours on my BNS DX pads without my feet hurting. My legs get pretty tired, though. |

Playing in bare feet is going to hurt unless you're on an Ignition pad. I really would recommend trying to play in socks. You can get socks that have rubber grips on the bottums, see if you can find some.
I get sore feet playing in my metal pad from my heel hitting the frikkin' screws and plates that hold the arrows in place. My friend and I are brainstorming to come up with a design that will have no screws and hopefully no exposed brackets or plates either. We'll see if we ever get there. _________________

I had the same problem for a while. It turned out that the callouses on my feet were making my skin extra dry thick, and painful. You can buy foot-files ( like huge emery boards) and advanced healing foot lotion. Oh, and if you slather your feet in lotion before you go to bed, then put on cotton socks, that really helps. _________________

For me, any time I play without shoes on, my feet start killing me. Playing on the balls of your feet is one problem, but if you're like me, that's the only way to play the faster songs. I'd probably look into a plastic cover for the pad so that you can wear shoes. Not only that, but also wearing the correct type of shoe in play helps as well. I had an old pair of street shoes I played with awhile back, but something more athletic like cross trainers not only supports your feet better, but increases your performance that much more. |

Foot Pains are a small price to pay when you're allowed to own DDR. |
