Why is it that i always hear that DDR puts a dent in peoples wallets? People who live in citys that have lots of DDR players are always saying that they spend too much money on DDR. I know that maybe the prices are expensive but with all the people there, the line must be long. I know that here where i live, when the place is packed with DDRers, which is about 20 of us, it takes like an hour to play. Where i live the prices are cheap. 75 or 50 cents for three songs. but at once playing an hour, i play like 5 times a night. So could someone explain to me what is the deal with the money being spent so much. _________________

well, around here it's not that long of a wait, one gets to play about 3 or 4 times an hour since there are only about 7 or 8 regulars. all in all, i play an average of about 15 to 20 games a day times a day in the arcade. and each game is 75 cents, i don't think it's that expensive _________________

Funworld is awesome. No lines, 50 cents for 3 songs on 5th mix, 75 for 3 on MAX2, and a dollar for 3 on extreme. I <3 5th mix _________________

Well, for me it depends on if it's crowded with players. Normally if it's not I'll play until I'm broke. But, if theres other players I don't spend as much that FAST.
I try to limit myself...
It just doesn't seem to work very well... |

Well, where I play it also depends on how long the line will be...it's .75 cents for three songs here, but I spend a lot of money when I go early in the morning after my college classes and tons of people who play are either in school or at work. Not to mention, I bought a Japanese PS2 and I spend a LOT of money on imported DDR games. Oh, and tournaments get expensive too. I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado where as most of the big tournaments here are held in Denver or Aurora. Therefore, I have to pay not only for entrance fees, but also for transportation, food, lodging, ect. It gets expensive when you have a healthy DDR habbit, but hey, it's better than a non healthy drug habbit! _________________

well here where i live, there are 2 machines with in walking distance. Our places are only packed on weekends, because thats when everyone is off from school and work, i guess i could see it as when you go. So my next question is when do you go? Oh and here, there are like 15 regulars. Every weekend they are at one or the others location. _________________

There are really almost never any lines here. On occasion, there will be a little kid or two at the mall wanting to play, so he puts his coin up, or some out-of-towners coming to visit. But most of the, there's a grand total of 3-5 people. You don't (most of the time) have a line unless it's unfamiliar people. You just ask if you wanna play. The pads aren't the best, so people dont' normally play there. Unless they'd rather have 4 songs over 3, but I preferably choose better pads than the number of songs.
At Putt-Putt, though, there is only ever about 4 people (unless the other two aren't there, then it's only the normal two "regulars". Or some other people come in, that only come like twice a month.) Same there, you just ask if you wanna play. But there is good deals at Putt-Putt ($20 for 120 tokens..etc. etc.) _________________

Depends when you go at my arcade... friday/saturday nights you get to play probably 3 sets an hour, if you come during the day there's nobody there at all. |

At Adventure Landing in NC, it's only .25 for 3 songs, and the regular DDR players don't often get their until about 11:25-12, so I can always get in a full hour once a week. Other than that, I just play at home anyway. |

At my arcade, unless it's a weekend, there's usually not many DDR players there. That's how it gets expensive. When noone's there, I just keep playing. I much prefer there to be another person to play while I can rest my body and wallet for a set. _________________

The arcades that are a reasonable distance to me are all Extreme machines that cost a dollar for three songs. Fortunately the Fat City ten minutes up the road is only 85 cents That 15 cents sure makes a difference alright!
But thats the simple part of it. On Fri/Sat there is ALWAYS about 10 regulars (the FCC) and about 50 people crowding around watching. Not fun.
Fat City also has this lovely system called game crazy cards that for 10 bucks, you get unlimited play for 3 glorious hours...offered EVERY day of the week...... Not to mention gas to get there and to tournaments, entry fees, lodging (as most tourneys are in denver or aurora).
Come to think of it, if i seriously think of how much money ive spent on this game..... |

ours is $1 = 4 songs
that can add up pretty fast. _________________

My arcade is 3 songs for a dollar. Anytime from 6-10 there are lines for the DDR machines. I still end up spending 5-10 dollars and that starts to add up over time. I actually had to stop the arcade play for a while because I only had $5.00 left. My mom didn't like that...something about saving for college _________________

Back when there was an Extreme at my workplace, I set it at 4 songs for 50 cents (talk about a bargain ), and I used to play on my off days, during the afternoon. Since almost nobody else came in at those times, I was spending quite a bit, even with the cheap price! Sadly, the machine was transferred several months ago, and the nearest one is on Plaza Las Americas (read: the biggest friggin' DDR hotspot in PR). If you go on weekdays, you can play until you go broke, but on the weekends, it can be up to a half-hour wait
Long story short: I'm not really spending that much on DDR, but it can be a wallet-draining hobby. _________________

my arcade went down in price. It use to be 1.25 for 4 songs, but noone was goin on the machines, then they dropped it to .75 for 4, and too many ppl were there, so they put it at a buck even, and all was good with the world _________________

w00t then there is me, who goes to the Arcade, and only about 10% of the time has like, 5 people( at the most ) there. Ahh, so much playing in 2 hours, it smashed my wallet. 20 bucks in 1.5 hours or so. |
