Hi!! I just got DDR for my PC with 2 dancepads from my sister, and when I installed everything and tried to play it, the game worked fine, but it only let me use the keyboard. It came with very few instructions, and I checked windows to make sure everything was hooked up right, so I was wondering if there was anything else I need to do to make it work >< Thanks!!

There may be an option called "Keypad/Joypad Configuration". You have to go there and teestt the buttons and make the game reccognize them. _________________

What kind of adapter do you have? What simulation are you using? To even see if the adapter working, goto Control Panel -> Game Controllers and select appropriate adapter and properties. |

It seems to me that your problem is that you might not have the correct driver for your adapter installed. (Although, it could just be the adapter! If it is a DragonPC USB converter, then throw it in the fireplace. It won't work. Believe me, I had the exact same problem.)
Sometimes, you have to plug the USB into the same one you installed it in the first time for it to work. That's usually not the case, but it sometimes happens. _________________

If the adapter maps to axis, then the arrow buttons won't work. Look in game controller axis. If you notice that the button only activiates the axis graph and not an individual button, the adapter won't work. Thats considering you properly installed the adapter drivers and such. You can readup on adapter here:
http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/adapter.php
If these adapters work for stepmania, then it should work with DDR PC. |

If it is the latest version, then you have to activate the adapter to dance mode. Dance mode maps the arrow to buttons. To activate this, hold up+start+select on the pad for 3-5 seconds. To make sure its on, goto control panel -> game controllers, select the correct controller port and see if the arrow steps activates a button. |

I'm having a problem getting the DDR dance pads to work in-game...I'm using windows XP which recognizes that the devices are correctly installed (as far as established connection and the drivers being present). The problem is that once I'm in the game it doesn't recognize the pads...The only inputs it accepts are from the keyboard or mouse. I tried changing the bindings for the dance pads to see if at least the game will recognize that they're there, but it wouldn't accept input. So, uh... I'm out of ideas. Windows says the devices are working fine ( in the device manager) although the game controllers...testing...thing won't recognize input either, but I'm thinking that may be because it's looking for playstation controller input specifically. So yeah, that's about it. |
