GREETINGS. This is my first post here, and it screams N000000b. I've been playing DDRMAX2 on PS2 for 3 months on one of those slippy flimsy ignition pads. Right now I'm pretty much just A-ing most things on standard and passing some on heavy. Do you think it's worth it buying a metal pad? Will my progess improve a lot if I did? Are there different kinds of metal pads? How much would the cheapest quality one be, and how much should I pay for one on Ebay?
AND, do you have any advice for me on AA-ing and AAA-ing songs on standard?
Thanks. =^..^=

Well, I am really a noob in DDR myself. After weeks of aggrivation with the ignation foam based pads I gave in the towel and bought a metal pad. Let me tell you from personal experience if you are getting Bs and Cs in songs you'll soon be getting AAs playing on the metal pad. The buttons just seem to be more sensitive and my feet flow a lot more easily on it. Of course I can only get AAs in easier standard mode and most all light mode songs, but the harder standard mode (6 feet) and all the heavy mode with the exception of a couple in DDR Max are still beyond my skills.
The gist of it is, from my personal experience it is well worth getting a metal pad! _________________

Let me get this straight: YOU ARE BASHING THE IGNITION AS A HOME PAD?! The Ignition is one of the best home pads you can buy. In fact, it is the best soft pad on the market. If you're having troubles with SASS (Slip And Slide Syndrome) then you may want to consider duct tape and plywood. Seriously.
Good call on the metal pad, though. Those pads are so much better. (especially if you build one like I did! Eighty bucks cheaper, and it's like your own child...that you stomp on.)
By the way, the best metal pad you can get you build yourself. It's fully customizable, and cheaper. (Depending on what materials you use) If you lack the expertise to build one, you can never go wrong with a RedOctane. _________________

Do yourself a favor, get a nice piece of particle board about 3/4 of an inch cut to the shape of the foam and put that inside instead of the foam... You'd be very pleased at the result. _________________

What me? Nah! I've never actually owned a true ignition pad. mine were knockoffs. If I mod them correctly I am sure they will work fine, but I do my metal based pad. _________________
