I'm sure this will be locked soon, but, since you sound like a newbie...

Did you do the sheet metal mod? VERY IMPORTANT.

why do you have that attitude when you're asking for help? He (or she) had the information that you didn't have, which makes him less of a newbie than you in my book, regardless of join dates.

Cheap metal pads like the BNS have cruddy metal contacts that are about as strong as tin foil (okay, SLIGHT exaggeration). People fix this by putting a piece of sheet metal, which is durable, in the arrows. Hence, the SHEET METAL MOD.

And, once again, lose that attitude, newb.

BTW, to DDRFreak.com, yes I'm a newbie, but I've learned alot about metal pads over the past month and you asked a question that anybody who's read anything *Metal Pad discussion topic* (hint, hint), should already know the answer to, so yeah, you sounded like a newbie.

twillytaughtme- joined dates generally don't have to do anything with being a "newb" or not.

That is funny! My dad ordered a metal mat (I think it is a BNS. Looks EXACTLY like it but the connector box isn't clear red--it is black) off eBay. 6 days later the lights stoped working around the arrows and I figured maybe if I let it cool it would start working again. Nope. Then my back arrow got stuck. So we opened it and found that the pannels were cut wrong and it got caught under something. So with that fixed I noticed the foil crap is coming off. So that is my first mod but I want a fix to my light problem! Where is the PCB located on the BNS mat? E19.gif i guess you can kinda call me a noob! I never look around here because you have TOO MANY THREADS and it takes forever to load just one with highspeed! drool.gif

I don't know who made the metal pad I bought. It worked great for about 3 days then the arrows started sticking. I realized soon that I made a HUGE mistake in playing it on a padded carpet. I moved it to a hard concrete floor and it worked fine, but then the X buttun started sticking. I was terrified at first to take it apart, but I could not see spending copious amounts of money on shipping to send it back, so out came the screw driver and in a dove. I found a crease in the foil under the pad, so I flattened it down and then re-assembled it. It has worked great since then. I am no featherweight either. So far I am content with the pad. It is about 3 inches thick and includes a bar. It's interesting to join this forum and learn all the things you folks do to make your own pads. I find it intiguing and intend to try and find out more about how to do it. biggrin.gif

I got my metal pad from Game Enhancer Canada about a year and a half ago and it hasn't had any problems yet. They're no more expensive than eBay pads and they work great.

eBay pads suck.

Ebay pads arent bad- u just have to mod them a little bit. If you want a pad that is pricey and doesnt have to be modded to work well, get a redoctane or cobaltflux. Or you can buy a cyphergames pad off ebay/cyphergames w/e and then put some new lexan arrows in there, and you have a very good deal on a metal pad.
