A couple months ago someone was selling a Martial Beat cabinet (without the sensor assembly) as a DDR cabinet without the pads. I'd almost be willing to be that you could just install DDR onto the existing hardware, though I've never played (or even seen) one of them in person before.

Considering how little you hear about it I'm assuming it isn't that good of a game. It's the ugly bastard step-child of Bemani that no one likes to talk about.

The song selection is TINY, the arcade sensors are HARD to pick up (and you REALLY need to know Japanese, so you can understand what you're supposed to be doing, home version doesn't tell you at all).

Cool concept, it's NOT Bemani though. Even though Konami uses the Dancemania label, it's NOT classified as Bemani. It's executed OK, it's fun for a bit, then it just gets stale.

If anyone wants to see what some of the routines are like, I ripped the PSX videoes =P

And it is DDR cabinet, don't doubt that it's the same hardware as well (easy porting to PSX too, a plus).

Firstly, you don't learn martial arts from it. It's like saying IIDX teaches you to be a DJ. Moving on, I played it a few time and it was real fun. The only problem I had was that it was mostly in Japanese and I couldn't understand the instructor's instructions so I had to do it from memory. In short Awesome game. Jab,jab, sway, sidekick, elbow

Wasn't there some asian craze where people use martial arts for exercise, sort of like TaeBo except not so commercialized? I have a clip of it somewhere on my computer, there are a whole bunch of people dressed up in work out gear following the instructors moves, which are much like the ones in Martial Beat. Well that's my reasoning for the creation of the game. I thought that it was fun when I played it but it has been a while so maybe I change my mind.
