they look like those pads that that guy scammed a bunch of people with (and the seller is in florida so that matches up). there's a review of it on the stepmania site and he says they're really good (maybe even better than arcade pads) so if you have the money and the seller seems reputable i say go for it.

I just entered the topic to post that! Gr. I was going to say "CHANNELBEAT?!"

They look exactly the same. He says he has many more in stock, and he also has 4 arrow pads. I think this is the same guy and he finally decided to sell on ebay.

Question for Y'all...

I just built a metal DDR pad ala Riptide's design, and something really stange happened. I just got it together, and I played a light song and full combo'ed it. Needless to say I was excited as crap that it worked. But then, I tried Rhythem and Police on standard, and halfway through my up and down arrows stopped working completely.

I took my pad apart and tried shorting the screws w/ a screwdriver to see if its was an alignment issue. Nothing. Neither the up or down arrow responded. Then I tried directly connecting (ala a wire) the contacts on the controller. Nothing. I can get the other buttons to work (left, right, select, start, X, O) but not up or down.

What could've caused the controller to work fine for a while, then burn itself up? Is it possibly bad wiring? Static buildup? Poor soldering (I admit I am a poor solderer)? I really have no idea. E19.gif

Any input would be helpful. Thanks! E1.gif

What r the major diffs between a home build pad and letz say a BNS pad. which has more of an arcade feeling. I have a CG pad and it has thoes little bracket thingys 4 4 of the pannelles each. thats all fine and dandy but id rather have one that has the more depressed feel. How do they differ in feel?

well, a home built pad can be made any way you want, since it is your custom design. if there is a feature u like, put it in. if there is a feature you dislike, leave it out. a home built pad can be awesome or crap, but they take a lot of work, and im sure not good enuf to make one.

'Right, so this seems to be a good place to state my problem. I have a RO pad I move around often, and jsut recently it stopped responding. Even the buttons on the control box, but the arrows still get lights when pressed, so it gets power. Have I damaged the control box somehow and would just do good to order a replacement box? Really pissed me off, tried self-repairs like I did to any other problems, but nothing is working on this yet...

for people who have a BNS metal pad, is the metal frame around the pad really made of metal? or is it cheap wood covered with cheap metal?

I currently have a BNS pad, and I believe that it's metal over wood...but I could be wrong... riiight.gif

Anyway, um, my acrylic is starting to crack on the up arrow...I knew this was going to happen...

But how do I fix it...and can I still keep the original arrow picture under it??

I don't know about anyone else, but people say to print out some more, but I'm lazy biggrin.gif ...

I have a relatively basic question about a metal pad that my friend got. I did check the first post in the thread, but it was comparing the different metal pads and not really listing any of the basic stuff about using the pads.

Anyway, my friend wants to know if he can play on his BNS Metal Pad while wearing shoes? The point of getting metal pad does seem to be so you could play with your shoes on, but he said the thing came with no instruction manual so just checking here. Thanks.

Instruction manuals are for dummies E15.gif But yes, metal pads are made for shoes. You can play without them if you want sore feet...

Hey i'm ambivalent on this one. I'm not sure if i should get a RO or a CF. the CF is considerably more expensive than the RO by about $100. I mean i only need a pad that would play out of the box, and last me a while. 350 is pretty steep for a pad. So yeah i'm leaning more towards the Red Octane just cuz i'm a lil short on money and it seems like a decent pad. My friend owns a CF i that thing's pretty good too. WHat do u guys think? If anyone has a RO, i want ur opinion, IM me - Stony003

So the newer BNS ones that are 138.95 are just as good as the red octane? I don't know if I will bother modding them, I'd just clean them every week or two. Maybe I'd mod them, who knows. If I mod them, will they last me over a year do you think? I've only used soft pads really, and none has ever lasted me more than 3 months or so without starting to screw up. I mean, I've only played DDR for a year and a half. I could buy two BNS pads for the price of one CF. If each pad lasts me 9 months, then that's as long as I've been playing now, and I don't know how much I'd be playing it down the road. I don't think I need a pad to last me a lifetime.
