ddr is great cardio exersize and can take the place of walking or running a few miles everyday if you do challenging songs and play for long enough. however, it won't help you lose weight unless you eat healthy foods too E1.gif i reccomend a low carb, low fat, high fiber and protein diet as that is what i am doing and not only do i feel great but i have plenty of energy to ddr for a few hours E1.gif

Wow, haven't been here in a while, welcome back me =D
Well,.. I wouldn't personally recommend just doing ddr and eating healtier..
I lift weights to work on other parts of my body that aren't used that much in ddr.

As far as eating goes.. Well I can't help.... much... Sorry riiight.gif

just lately i've been doing a few rounds of crunches and situps before and after playing ddr. But since i've just started doing this i havent seen results yet. hopefully i will lose some weight from this. But its kind of hard cause i work in a bakery where we can eat what we want when we want. So i have a lot of fatening foods surrounding me all the time and its hard to resist. riiight.gif

I'm sure theres a lot better excersizes then just running and jumping in place that are more cost-effective.

If you have it at home there isn't any cost outside of the initial ones...

As for diet, I've changed my diet very little from when I started, BUT I've been more conscious of what I eat, and I try to keep my calorie intake (from fat) to a minimum (since it's calories you're trying to burn, adding more is going to cause you to take longer to burn off the ones you have stored up, sound like a pretty simple deduction to me, it's probably physiologically more complicated than that, but it's been working for me E15.gif ). Always check the Nuitrition Facts if possible, even if it isn't particularly healthy, it's still good to have an idea of what you're getting out of it. I'll discourage myself from eating foods that my family buys on a regular basis if I discover that I'm getting massive amounts of excess calories from them (and frozen dinners aren't usually very tasty anyways E15.gif ).

Interesting thread, half the reason I got the game was to be able to get a "workout" at home. I moved so I no longer have a cardio-room on the premises, so DDR is fun and it helps.

Ole girl that was on MTV kinda helped push the idea. It took her a while, but my goodness, she changed her entire look playing this game. But I do have a workout plan outside of playing DDR that assist in my physical maintenance(sp?).

I'm in no way trained to say whether or not the "DDR Diet" is something to follow, but I will say that my brother and I are both overweight. My brother eats like a tank. He started playing DDR and didn't change his diet at all and it's AMAZING how much weight and inches he has lost. That is the ONLY form of exercise he gets and it's just amazing!

So I started playing again and getting a lot more into it and I have to say that it is a really good cardio workout, especially if you are doing more difficult songs. It helps build stamina and definately helps get you in shape. Of course, with the obvious "balanced diet" and exercise anyone can lose weight, but at least with DDR it's fun and it gets you away from the boring gym scene.

Thanks so much everyone! I was just really concerned, considering that I am overweight, and I like the game that it will work. Thank you for all of your advice! E4.gif
