One of the arrows on my redoctane metal pad cracked after five months of repeated use. What should I do to fix the arrow?

If the pad isn't modded, then do the sheet metal mod. When you say crack, do you mean crack beyond playable use? If so, then buy replacement panels from MyMyBox.com or liksang.com. Or go to the first page of this topic and you can try making your own from scratch with PS2freak mod.

The metal pad from discount-auction I received was the Metal Dancing Pad TX-1000. I googled it and found a match from another store.

http://www.hartsunlimited.com/psps2dapame.html

Looks like the exact ones with the round washers in the middle. In the descriptions, it says that panels are acrylic. The ebay auction advertised specifically poly-carbonate. I sent an email to the ebay seller about it. Has anyone else verify the type of panel of the pad from this seller? Can I do something in response if the seller is false advertising? I could file a claim through Paypal buyer protection for item being different, but would that be useful in getting my money back, if the seller fails to offer something in return?

I don't know about the arrows. I mean, how fast would they break if they are acrylic? They seem strong to me, but then again, without breaking them, I can't really tell.

I got no compliants about the functionality of the pad, I'm totally satisfied with it. I'm just disappointed that the panels may not be poly-carbonate as advertise. I'm not sure myself either how much durable poly-carbonate, but I just see that same material on name brand models and based my belief on their claims. If the seller offers to refund, I'm not going to bother since shipping was $40. On the other hand, i'd return it if he offers to replace it with the actually advertised item. Sigh...

Hey james, when you modded this type of metal pad, were the size of sheet metal 10"x10" or smaller?

I cut the metal much smaller than the size of the squares. Something like 5x7Inches (not exact, I eyeballed the measurements). I see no reason to make it much bigger than the size of the copper grid.

If I want to replace the up right down and left arrows, would my dance pad be ruined if I cut the wires for the led lights? Before I do this, are the lik sang arrows the same size as the redoctane ones?

I just used enough to cover the strips of foiland ended up with even less because the tape covers up some metal.

The pad will still work if you cut the wires for the light. You just won't have lights in your replacements panels. I'm not sure about if replacements from liksang are the same size as redoctane. You could try contacting redoctane and liksang about the size of the panels. I would think the size of panels are universal. Doesn't redoctane metal pad have polycarbon panels (or do you have an older model)? Liksang panels are said to be made of High-Quality Acryl-Butadien-Styrol, isn't that simply acrylic? There is always the option of making your own panel. I believe they instructions about that in Homemade Pad.

Hey guys can u help me? Sorry if this has been asked before, but i only read a few pages and didnt see my question asked.....so.........I was looking on ebay recently and i have been noticing these pads that look like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3085240659&category=21185#ebayphotohosting. If this picture does not work, what it looks like is a metal pad with a bar on it. I saw the exact same pad at playasia http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-70-2s8-71-e.html and it looks EXACTLY the same, but they are aparently out of stock at playasia. Now personally i have yet to buy any hard home pads, so im in the dark for all of this. But this "Neo" brand Home pad looks awful convincing. Has anyone tried it/bought it yet? Does it compare at all the the Cf? And arent the "Neo" pad and the playasia pad exactly the same? Thanx for your help guys.

Yea, the Ebay pad is most likely the same as the play-asia version. I wouldn't spend an extra 100 dollars for a metal pad with a bar. You prob save more if you buy a normal metal pad and made your own bar. If you have the cash, then Cobalt Flux pads is the best pad overall, hands down. If not a cobalt flux, look for a pad that has polycarbonate panels rather than acrylic (like BNS or RedOctane). There is a reseller for RedOctane pads on Ebay. Note, the metal pad sold by discount-seller may not be polycarbonate if you get the TX-1000 model.

Wow, on the email I sent to discount-auction about whether the metal pads are really poly-carbonate as advertised or not and he responded:

"Why don't think play with the pad to see for yourself,
rather then reading what other people says,. i think
you should be the best judge on the pad."

Unfortunately I asked the question after I received the pad. I also lacked the insight of telling the different between acrylic and poly. When two other retailers

http://keepgaming.com/ddr/505-01046.htm

have the exact model on the box (which matches the pictures of the product) I got says its acrylic, thats enough proof for me to believe its not poly. Unless he ships the product he has advertise, be warned that the current model (Metal Dance Pad TX-1000) he ships are different panels*

I probably find out when the they break :-X I just going to mod what I got, and hope it doesn't break so soon.

Hey, VSAmaco, they are definitely acrylic. I've only been playing on them since last week and already a small crack is forming under the UP arrow. I'm pretty sure the polycarb ones wouldn't break so easily. Oh well, it still works great, but it looks like I'll be doing another mod soon.

How much for Lexan squares?

Let's see

2 Pads : $160
shipping : $80
Sheet Metal Mod : ~$15 +1 hour work

Now an arrow replacement Mod : $?

It's still going to be cheaper than one Cobalt Flux pad, but I really was hoping that the sheet metal mod would be the only major change I would have to make.

Also, these pads are starting to squeak a little when certain areas are stepped on.

Regardless, I'm determined to get at least one years use from these pads, or die trying.

p.s. That response from the seller on EBAY: What a bogus answer to a simple question!

Is there anywhere I can find a replacement for the metal piece w/ "Stay Cool" on it. Click on my sig, then click my metal pad pic to see what it looks like. For some reason the seller had it covered w/ some really sticky stuff that pulled off some of the paint when i removed it. It's just a thin piece of metal with the edges folded down I believe. Thanks.
