Hey im actually doing an article for a University magaziene on DDR (talking about its gameplay, and worldwide fan base) and I was looking for a complete history or any info of DDR that I could use for the story.

If anybody has any links or info that may be useful please talk to me. Or email me at [email protected]. I would also be willing to talk over MSN about it.

Thanks guys.

Someone made a post like this before. You might want to just search for it...

Aside from misspelling "magazine," that sounds like a great idea. Here's some starter notes for ya.

- Deemed an official sport in Norway, soon UK and Italy

- Countless people have lost weight playing DDR

- Fans and players are usually either Gen-Y Punk or Anime Guy.

- Highly addictive

- Frowned upon by the "popular" crowd

Hope that helps you get started, because there is no site that I know of that has the kind of information you're looking for. I suggest you hang around an arcade featuring DDR if you want to get to know the culture better.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw all DDR players into two groups like that. I'd suggest for an article, having info from throughout the world, but since it's a university magazine, have more emphasis put on the local scene (not only because then people are more interested, but you could potentially find some other people who want to play but didn't know there was a following at said school)

It would not be wise to write an article that includes something like "The majority of DDR players are this stereotype or that stereotype. Oh, and most poeple hate it."

If you were to say "Most people hate it" then people will think "Why am I reading this? What reason is there for me to be interested?"

As for the complete history of DDR, there aren't many places that list a "history" of DDR that you probably want. The best you could do is find the release dates for the arcade machines. The first one came out in 1998 (hence the song on Extreme).
