Don't worry about encountering bosses, you'll get to one sooner or later. You encounter a boss after every 4 forks in the road. Use Tyma's guide to see which paths lead to whom.
And yeah, I'm working on Classic 9 EX. For the past few days I don't think I've done as much border failing as I've done recently. Gimme another few days and I should have it passed, but for now, no luck. _________________

Damn, impressive. I just unlocked Classic 9, and I bearly squeaked by on 9-Line.
What Speed Mod are you using for it? I passed it on 9 Line with HS3, but my score was like 60,000 and I had 230 or so Greats, 30 or so Goods, and 130 some odd Bads. I think HS2 might be better, but I got murdered when I played it without High Speed. Input? _________________

I should be getting my Ransai controller anytime soon. Whenever my mail comes. I can't wait to play Pop N' Music the way it was meant to be played.
All you guys seem to be having a lot of fun playing Pop N' 9. I am curious about that dungeon mode of fighting bosses. Sounds like fun. Is that another way of unlocking stuff besides that Gambler Z board? I can't wait to get that game either.
Is it just me, or have I been seeing more people showing interest in trying out Pop N' Music lately? _________________

I'm using HS4. The faster parts are fairly hard to read - which is why I've been failing thus far - but the slower parts are even harder to read when played at HS3 or 2, so I'm playing HS4 to no end. Once I get used to the speed, I'll be fine. _________________

I think I've found my comfort zone at around 580bpm scrolling. So, I usually put either 3x or 4x, with some really -slow- songs going to 6x since I finally unlocked that last night. ^^;
The guide does indeed simplify getting to the bosses I want to get to - I've gotten through 4 of the bosses. One thing I did notice - if you're standing in front of the boss and need to get back to Gambler Z quick, you don't have to pass a song to confront him again - you can just enter and fail out of Challenge (don't continue) or Expert mode real quick, and it'll take you right back into the mode. This is only useful when you're at a boss though, since if you do this anywhere else in the map, Toru will... well, stand still. (The number of dice you get is exactly the amount of songs you've cleared, with long version songs counting twice.)
I did finally get Colors... I was hoping it would be more different from how it played in IIDX, but it's nice to have anyways. Guitar Absolute rocks though. =P _________________

i'm trying to make a list of challenge point totals that lead to EXtra stage.. it would be helpful if some people who get to the extra stage list their point totals on this forum, if they don't mind.
so far the only one i know is 111. |

We also just started some data collection in the pop'n 9 thread (not sticky). So far, we have 49, 61, 80, 81, 100, 110, 111, and 125. (I have not personally confirmed all of these, though...)
EDIT: Crono at bemanistyle was kind enough to point out all the point values were already recorded here. Saves us quite a bit of trouble ^^; _________________

I'm not sure if this should be posted here or the controller faq, but I'm posting it here. If it's in the wrong place, let me know.
To anyone who plays at home - where do you put the controller? This game seems to require a bit more of your upper body, so I have a feeling down that I couldn't play this game sitting on the floor with the controller in front of me. Or with the controller on my lap. Do you have some sort of stands (keyboard stands) that you put the controller on? |

i just put mine on a tv tray like i do with iidx. if you're talking about an asc, which is a trillion times bigger, this might cause a problem, since it'd be hanging off the sides of it and might get easily knocked off. _________________

I put my ASC on a desk and sit down with a chair and play. You could put it on a coffee table I guess and sit on the floor if you wanted. _________________

I have the controller on a fold-up table that we usually use for card games and stuff. My parents apparently have something against coffee tables and scrapped ours years ago, so I can't use that. x_x _________________

Your controller is great, but I'd rather have one that only lit up when you hit it... _________________
