I know that people get mad if you us a speed cheat like 1.5X or 2X. But what if you put it on dark.... is dark mode considered a help or a handicap? ? ?

like if 1.5 and 2X help you then does dark mode help you or not help you... thus is it a handicap or something that makes the game harder?

Hmm..The only thing I can really say is that Dark *can* be a help..

Playing a song on Dark and Hidden helps you timing a LOT..

Just my 3 cents

If you get used to dark, it really can be a help. I have a friend who often plays dark, especially on sorrow songs and other technical songs. Because of it, it has really helped his timing. I mean, a AAA on Sync Oni (1x dark) isn't too bad.

I put myself on a Dark diet for a few days, and it helped my timing a lot.

I also use speed mods, even if they are considered cheating. So sometimes I play on boost, too. Boost can also help ya some.

It's all in the fun of the game, though.

I think I might just start playing on 1x dark from now on. I think if you're ever in a tourney against a n00b who thinks he's the sht, use 1x dark (if it's allowed). Most n00bs are speed mod whores and they can't play anything too well on 1x..and not being able to see exactly when to step will throw them off. It's great.

It's actually both a handicap and a help. It does hinder when to step exactly but it turn, it will teach you when to step without the help of the static arrows on the top of the screen.

Since I rarely look at the top of the screen anyways anymore, I would call it neither a help or a handicap.

It can definitely be helpful...whenever I'm teaching a new player, I have them play on dark mode so that they learn how to step with the beat instead of relying so heavily on watching the arrows.

And for the 3 billionth time, speed mods aren't cheating.

I play with Dark sometimes and it helps going with the beat didn't really relized that though I just played it to show off, sometimes I play THE SHINING PLORIS on DARK BOOST 1.5x and HIDDEN just for fun and looks cool or A BOOST 1.5 with DARK awesome for a stamina drain thats just me though. Maybe I should start to play on DARK then it could improve my scores a little. DDR 4 EVER

I should try Dark out more often.

I always try to PA by watching the arrows, but on some songs.... (damn you Look to the Sky!) I simply cannot seem to figure out when to step.

Dark mode is just there to test your timing on the arrows.

Being a visual player, i hate dark with a fiery passion E1.gif it is fun to play with it occasionally, because you can see what color of flash you're getting alot more clearly (especially after 100 combo), but it's up to you to decide if it helps or hinders your play.
