I'm not sure if I should have posted this in soft pad or metal pad or homemade metal pad discussion, so I'll post this here..
I have 2 BNS DX-Pads and Ive been using them for somet iesm now. But now that Im trying to move on to heavy, I notice they aren't as "good" anymore. I was wondering if building a metal pad might be the solution.
I have some questions for those of you who have built one:
1) How much experience do you have building stuff before?
2) How much did it cost you? (The homemade thread says about ~90 bucks but prices might have changed/dropped)
3) Which design did you use? ddrhomepad's or riptide's?
4) Did you encounter any problems?
5) How easy was it to build?
6) Which pad were you using it before, and how does your homemade pad compare to your old one? |

1. No experience, cept from watching my cuzins solder stuff. I got my dad top help me with the structure, but i did wiring my self.
2. Cost? I didnt pay attention
3. I used riptides. It looks easier and u can add lights if u want to it.
4. hmmm..... problems....it was just a pain to re adjust the screws so they were the same height so that the sheet metal could touch all of them at the same time. took awhile, but its great.
5. pretty easy to build, unless ur a perfectionist. that will be a problem...
6. i was using the DPR pad with anti-slip bottom. when i first played my hard pad, i kept falling and my feet kept hurting b/c i realized that ive been hitting my soft pad to hard and dragging it alot on the soft pad.
Over all, build your own or get a CF. Those are basically your choices for a metal pad. RO is about same price as building your own. And building your own lets you know how it was built so you can fix it anytime.
