DNA: the arrows would spin/twist as they go up (like a double-helix)
i think this one would require some minimal 3D (for the arrows as they spin... its hard to explain) _________________

Flux: When you miss a step, the music will be skewered slightly to add to the tension.
Flash: There would be no stationary arrows. Instead, the correct arrow will flash briefly in the center of the screen when the arrow would normally reach a Great. Very difficult.
Focus: Arrows would start at the bottom of the screen and then fly in a triagular fahion to one stationary Arrow Cross at the top center.
Legnth-3 Long Version
A song that goes about 4:30, all three of your songs.
New Grading System:
"Aww, I was only 3 greats away. Recieve recognition for low number of greats on AAs. An AAA will be awarded if you get only a handful of greats on a song, an S grade will be awarded for all Perfects (formerly the AAA), SS for low number of perfects and many magnificents, and SSS for all magnificents.
Cool New ExtraStage:
Requires new AAA. Instead of playing the usual elite song, you play against a CPU "Boss" in a Duel Game. The song would be a special 3:00 Long Version. _________________

All the mods you need are in SM.
I don't have a name for this one. The arrows in the arow zone are in the center of the screen, and instead of looking like L D U R, they would look like
The left arrows would come from the left of the screen into the left arrow zone thing. _________________

Spin: Arrows spin around in place as they rise to the top.
You can edit this--
Spin(Clockwise)
Spin(Counterclockwise)
Spin Reverse
I'm pretty sure this isn't a real mod. _________________

single file mode- the arrows come in a single file line, instead of each direction having its own column... damn that would be hard _________________

cross mode: the left step-zone would be at the bottom of the screen, the up and the down step-zone would be at the top, and the right step-zone would also be at the bottom. exactly like cross mode in dance freaks/maniax. (if you ever played it) _________________

Jumps off, takes away one step from a jump. Oh, and a mode where the arrow placement at the top is jumbled up. |

A DDR sim called PyDance has centre scrolling (stepzone in the middle, arrows randomly scroll from above and below). I've tried it and it's absolutely unreadable. Can't pass anything above 4 feet on that... just try figuring out whether two arrows scrolling towards the zone form the two halves of a jump or not.
Mines should be an official DDR mod. I've tried playing with Mines on a Extreme turned into a Stepmania machine and it was pretty damn insane (you can't even have your foot on the panel if there's a mine coming up). Just try doing So Deep like that...
Anyway, what might be nice to see is what I call Chain Mode; you must alternate feet no matter what or you get an Ouch a la DDR 1st mix CS. Think of it as making every arrow into an implicit freeze arrow that overlaps with the next arrow. Could make spinnish songs interesting... |

Step sound mode- would create gaps in songs and during that time frame would assign each step a drum sound like a kick, cymbal, or snare so you could add some cool drum patterns to the song. It would be really cool to pull off a good drum sequence in the middle of a song. _________________

I once pictured a DDR game where, in addition to moving your feet the right way, you would also have to pay attention to what your arms are doing; a combination of DDR and either Pop'n Music or Dance ManiaX, if you will.
But, no. That would be evil and wrong. |

Travel: Step zone starts on the appropriate side of the screen, then slowly makes its way to the other side as the song progresses. (Imagine this on Versus)
Pop: The step zone is a little higher than usual, although the actual zone is the same as before. When you step on a pad, the corresponding arrows pops downward to where it's supposed to be, then pops back up when you release it.
Russian Judge: Step judgements are displayed as being random - 5 Perfects could show up as "Good" "Great!" "Good" "Miss..." "Perfect!!" and you don't know exactly how you did until the end.
Lagged: Arrows are a random amount of beats (1/2 - 4) behind when they're supposed to be.
Phantom: Random arrows fade out as they near the step zone. _________________

I love that Flux option. That would freak me out.
I really wish that regular mode had Fuwa Fuwa. That would rock. _________________
