Do you like to use the backbar?

Hi.. i dont know if i am the only one but i hate the backbar. I play hard songs but i still dont use the backbar. for example max unlimited on standard.. i dont use the backbar for and i can get a B... what do you think? wouldnt it be alot cooler to be really good without the backbar instead of leaning on it all the time?

ok, here are my views on the bar.

Many people dont like using the bar cause they thing either it takes away from thier 'coolness' of DDR which we usually dont play for lookin good infront of everyone else (unless thier girls/chearleaders which totaly diffrent story)others dont use it because they aren't use to it. Many use it one handed because it keeps thier balance but usually let go when they do a turn or whatever. Most use it two handed because they keep thier weight on hands instead of feet which you gota have good arm strength to withstand the preasure. If anyone ridicules them of this then they usually say 'hey, its part of the dance floor'. but anyway...I personaly use the bar on songs i can't normally do without the bar. But for songs such as witch doctor, i use it (dont know why but ive never tried it w/o using the bar). It really depends on what your skill is or if you in general like using the bar.

I don't have a bar at home, so consequently, I don't use it at the arcade.

It'd probably take more time than it's worth for me to get used to using it anyways

never really used the bar b/c it just feels kinda weird for me. i don't really care whether or not people use the bar or not, its just personal preference and what you are comfortable with.

Most songs i'm comfortable with I will not use the bar.

Songs that have streaming cross overs such as freackles and EE then I will one hand myself somtimes as I lose my balence.

Max 300- I hold on for dear life, and never let go.

I don't use the bar at all, except for the second half of maxx unlimited hvy. i've only passed it once without the bar, and that was at home. other than that, i don't use the bar, but it is good for the people who start their FS with jumping over the bar, so i think it's good.

I only use the bar for 10s, but that's my personal choice, and I accept the consequences. My friend Jill recently AA'd Fantasy max1 3x with the bar. I've never been able to AA Fantasy max1 because I don't use the bar, but I don't doggy - I practice and improve.

Using the bar takes a lot of skill if you don't want your PA to go down the toilet. You can't just reach back, grab the bar, and AA everything in sight. It's a totally different playing style that most people who don't use the bar can't seem to get. This is proved by the hundreds of people who come to these threads and say 'I tried it but it was really weird so I don't use it'. It's not easy. Get that out of your head.

If the only reason you hate the bar is because other people score better than you with it, then you have three options: 1. Use the bar yourself, 2. Pay for that person's game and tell them to play without the bar, or 3. GET BETTER. I haven't seen one attack on the bar that doesn't come down to "HE SCORES BETTER!!!" Stop whining and improve. If you can score as well or better without the bar as I can with it, then I will definitely concede that you are a better player than I. Until then, it doesn't matter.

If you don't like the bar, good for you. If you can't pass MaxX Unlimited heavy, don't doggy when people who use the bar pass it. It's your choice whether or not you use it, and if you choose not to you'll just have to accept the consequences of that choice. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Going back to the topic of the bar, I tried using it today but it kind of messed me up because I'm not used to it. I'm not against people that use it. I turn alot when I play (not the whole way around but I turn to the sides about 90 degrees) so holding on to the bar makes it hard to do that. But hey, if you want to use it, go ahead. It's all a personal preference.

umm... for those people complaining about another thread about the bar... soorryryryyyy geeze i didnt know there was one before... and ya like i said i dont use the bar because i just like to do things the hard way. People that use the bar, thats cool its all personal preferance

To this day people hate on the bar. Why?

Personally, I only use it to:

-Keep my balance
-To do fast runs in songs (i.e. the 16ths in Grad. Cyber)
-To conserve stamina on the tens (or in the case of LoM, actually hit the arrows).

Generally, I'll only use the bar when I feel my stamina running down, or when I'm trying a difficult song that I'm unfamiliar with. Usually some combination of the two. For example, I'll use it on Witch Doctor because I'm not that good at it, but I won't use it on Bag (which I know very well) unless I don't think I have the energy to get through the whole song.
