DDR-What did you think it was when you first heard the name?

I thought it was some kind of role playing game or card game like MTG or something when I heard somebody say the sentence, "Yeah, Brett's completely obsessed with DDR".

I thought it was some shooting game because no one told me what it stood for and most of the time all my friends and I play are shooting games...I mean it's like we can kill REAL people

I heard about "dancing", "characters", and combinations of arrows, so I thought it was some game where you press buttons on a Dualshock to make an onscreen character dance

I have been playing for awhile and when i started.... The machine was called Dance Dance Revolution spelled out, Therefore I didn't even know there was a shorter name. First time i saw the shorter abbreviation was when i came to DDR freak.

well when we first got it we got one of those crap pads, but it said for Dance Dance Revolution, so i didn't call it ddr yet. some of my friends had wondered what it stood for tho. they thought it was like a new hand held like GBA or something

I think I first saw it when I was trying to upgrade my computer, and I searched on google for deals for DDR ram (DDR stands for double data rate), and somehow some stuff about the game came up. I didn't think much of it then though.

I didn't originally think that there was any sort of scoring involved in DDR. I thought it was a machine designed solely for freestyle/actual dancing because all I had seen were freestyle videos.

I also saw the machine before I ever heard it referred to as "DDR," but when I would talk about DDR, a lot of my friends thought I was talking about computer memory.

I never heard the term DDR until after i knew what Dance Dance revolution was. When my friend asked me if i had ever DDRed, i was like What? What is DDR? and then she was like, Dance Dance Revolution.

The first time i saw it was an imported version like 4 years ago, it kinda scared me and my friend who imported it told me all about it. i completely forgot about that day until i saw a machine pop up in the arcade.
