Has anyone else had alot of problems with the Red Octane Metal pads?
1 week having it and the up arrow started sticking and occasionally the right arrow. Then the lights stopped lighting up
And for a non slipping metal pad this thing moves all around the place while playing any song on heavy.
Im getting a refund on it and already made plans to buy a cobalt flux, I have heard nothing but great things about those. _________________

*sigh* newbs these days just don't read the stickies anymore...
For the 873,239th time, those pads suck! And they don't come with a control box. |

Is this directed at my questions about the BNS pads or something? Because if it is, I asked twice about the pads before I got an answer, and I read half of this entire thread (well over 20 pages worth) looking for answers/reviews of the BNS pads. _________________

I've said this twice and I'll say it again, update the first frickin' post!!! God! That post is so @#&*ing old that it's not even funny. We need to include the newer pads that have been released like the V2 CF, RO Metal Pad, those Metal Pads with the Bar, and those metal pads with poly carbonated plastic but no bar (like the BNS). If we want to stop all of these repeated questions we should just #$*#ing update the first post!!!
ARGH!!!! |

This is exactly why we should update the first post.
*Sigh*They suck. They use foil and copper contacts. If that is the only pad you can buy and a CF or building your own pad is out of the question, you'll have to mod the pad with sheet metal. |

Hi, I have a RO metal pad and i did The Korn kid's modhttp://www.geocities.com/chris_pruss/DDR/Howto_mod_metalpad.html My problem with this mod is it made my pad way too sensitive(i.e. barely stepping on it causes it to register). At first I thought this was a good thing, but I went to my local arcade to play ddr thinking that I had gotten better, but I had gotten worse. I had gotten worse, because I got used to barely needing to step and that doesn't work at the arcade(i.e. I couldn't even hear myself stepping at the arcade). So I was wondering if Ter's mod http://www.rufus3.com/ddr/mmb.html is more accurate to the arcade sensitivity? _________________

It would really be hard for anyone to say that any one mod makes the sensitivity most arcade-like, since the sensitivity of any given arcade pad is dependent on how well it is maintained. I've had machines where if your feet were big enough, you could just gently rock back and forth between the arrows to trigger them without moving your feet...and I've had machines where you had to literally jump on each arrow to get it to respond. _________________

I have been reading the thousands of post here about problem metal pads. I must admit I am one with complaints too. My up and down keys don't work right. Just like everyone else. I can understand the repairs, broken arrows, rubber feet removal to stop warping.
I noticed something interesting though....
We first bought the Xbox DDR Utlramix and a soft pad. It was terrible. We bought a wireless one and the down arrow never worked. We took it back...I guess many have had problems with them. We got a cheap corded one. And it has been fine. It is a Madcat I think with a dual plug for Xbox and PS2
We hooked it up to the PS2 and it just didnt respond quite the same way. It was over sensaitive. or would double key...sometimes you had to hit the arrows harder to register.
Well today we hooked up the metal pad to the Xbox with an adapter we bought. It's great. Its responsive, no arrow problems at all. It was a total surprise.
To me it appears that the xbox controls are different then the PS2. Enough to make me want to use the Xbox more.
Who knows, maybe the PS2 is wearing out and I need to replace it. My guess the PS2 is just more sensitive.
Any ideas or comments on this one? |

I am not sure what brand it is. It looks like the CG one. In fact many of them look the same. I bet there are only a couple of manufacturer's of these things anyway. It just says made in China on the bottom. |
