I am in need of some desperate help concerning noise and DDR. I live in residence halls and whenever my friends and I play DDR one of the kids below us gets angry and instead of telling us to stop has talked to the residence hall director. I dont think stepping is the problem as my steps are mad quiet but I have a cobalt flux this symester. Last symester I used Konami's soft pads that came with Ultramix and Max 2 but I also had a rug and I never got any complaints about noise. So to the point of this post anyone know of anything I could make or buy to reduce the sound made by the pad. I was told it sounds more like bass from a subwoofer rather then loud tapping if that helps at all. Thanks in advance for any advice offered. |

My friend, Bossycow on the boards here, had to fold up a towel and put it under his subwoofer in order to keep the people below him happy. In his case they didn't go tell the resident hall director, they came upstairs and cussed us out. The towel eliminated that problem . _________________

Try putting like cushions or something thin/soft to put under it to reduce the noise. _________________

I was going to suggest the same, try putting pillows or something, haha, it may not be as great, but no more noise!...the arcade is always fun too.. _________________

Here is a good idea! It would cost a bundle but if you could do it it would be so quite, he would think you were sleeping! Make a table thing about 1/2 foot off the ground to reduce sound (with a rubber mat) and if you want put springs on the legs to absorb the shock. That would be dead quite!
Or you could ask to live on the 1st floor above nobody! |

I would just say move onto the bottom floor, that's what I did Im on the first floor with no one below me to get mad... sure the guy next to me doens't always like the TV on loud, but it's not too bad, I can almost make as much noise as I want, jumpin' around like a crazy guy. Good luck, hope your stupid neighbor's get a clue at what they are missing out on |

I don't know if I'm in Super Dorm or something, but we can never hear each other through walls or doors. The girls below us have never complained about it, ever. Even if we play late at night.
And the building is 50 years old. |
