I don't think height is really an issue. I'm 6', 125lbs, and I can pass most catas (DIE HVAM!) and I've nearly passed max 300. I think skill is based more on a person's ability to subdivide beats in their head. DDR players look at me funny when I start saying stuff like "no that's a dotted eighth sixteenth going into a triplet. think one--a-two-la-li..." getting off topic riiight.gif ...

but yeah, it has more to do with you're mental metronome than your body type. proof of this...seeing a 220lb, 5'6" guy absolutly raping PSM heavy. he's on drumline...

I honestly don't think height is the issue of playing ddr. I think the skill you have to deal with most is either speed or rhythm. Cuz you can be the "perfect" height and still be a screw up if you can't find the beat of a friggin song E1.gif

I'm better than a lot of tall players and I'm short. I think it's all about practice. (But I'm still to short to bar rape.)

I'm about 5'11" -6' (depends on if i've been to the chiropractor) and it seems like a pretty good fit, the bar is at a good height so i don't have to bend my arms or anything, although my long(er) legs make it a be0tch to try and step close to the center, I FLAIL riiight.gif

Me, being 5'1", have an inability to bar rape, which I guess is a good thing but it makes it harder for me to ever pass very difficult songs.

i don't think it really matters, as long as your legs are long enough to do double jumps.
i'm about 5'11" and i'm 14..still growing too.

Yeah, height really can be an issue. I'm a big guy (6'6, 230 lbs.) and I have HUGE feet, and sometimes if I'm not careful I'll hit two arrows at once and if I'm doing like a run, then I can screw up. I usually play with just my toes, unless I happen to be wearing boots, then I just do easier songs.

Holy crap, you are one skinny dude. No offense, but 5'7" @ 143lb (that's me) is skinny already, but you need to put on some weight.

I am 5'7" (which seems to be a lot of people's height in this thread, what's up with that, are most DDR players short?) and I think being a little bit taller than myself would help when playing doubles.

I'm 5'4 and I'd say my height and weight (105lb) gives me the speed and stamina. I've passed every pie apart from PSM-oni and AA'd max300.

Age: 20 (21 on feb 10th)
Height/Weight: 6' 2" 175-180 pounds
And a fast metabalizm

Don't ask me why I added my age in there. Anyway, 6'2" is a great inbetween height for singles and doubles. I can stretch from the left arrow on the left pad to the right arrow on the right pad if I wanted. E4.gif

I would have to say that around 5'5 to 5'7 I guess since its in between most of the heights of most ddr players that I've seen or heard. But that doesn't mean short people can't say its easy for them to cross over on doubles or tall people to say that they can't move as quick as shorter people, I mean that shaq and iverson thing did have a point but ddr could be different. I don't know how its different cuz I'm only 5'0 (shortest I've read so far) 18yr old girl (so I've stopped growing = ( . ) and I'm like the 3rd best in my town ( yes and I'm including tha big boys...oOoOoOo ) and about the 2nd best in doubles and the people on top of me are like 5'8 to 6'0 males... So that little shaq and iverson theory needs to go in the trash..... And answering the topic subject again in a complete sentence.... I THINK THAT THE PERFECT/IDEAL HEIGHT FOR DDR IS AROUND 5'5 to 5'7.

Heh... I'm 5'11" and 1/2. I'm ONLY 13, and I'm 155 Pounds. I'm not fat though, but I'm huge. I'm as tall as my 18 year old neighbour. And I AM NOT the perfect height. Do you know how hard it is to play DDR when you're 8 inches taller than your opponent.

Well, the perfect height is 5"5. Even still though, I manage to school the kids at my arcade, despite my ginormous figure.

You seem to be contradicting yourself. If the ideal height is 5'5" to 5'7", then the "Shaq/Iverson theory" IS valid.

Have you people seen the "Health" thread in Gameplay. I was interested, so I tallied up everyone's height and foot level, and although it's a small sample, it DOES seem to confirm that tall people are at a disadvantage. Among those people over 6 feet, their average foot level is 8.0; among those who are 5'11" or 6', their average foot level is 8.5; and among those shorter than 5'11", their average foot level is 8.9

How tall are Yasu and Take? They seem to be the ultimate DDR players. I'd guess they're 5'1" and about 110 lbs. But I bet they're nowhere near as good on doubles (I don't think I've ever seen either of them play doubles). Sorry, but we tallies own doubles.

yasu and take are around 5'5 - 5'8. i think 5'8 since theyre taller than the screen. yasu is good on doubles. i know he AAAd a heavy on doubles.

the taller the better?!?! when u get taller so do your feet and u usuallay gain more weight from bones or whatever doing crossovers and turns with big feet can be hard meaning u have mnore of a chance of hitting ur feet on eachother thus missing more steps ( i guess this doesnt matter when all ur trying to do is pass songs) more weight theoretically makes u slower and get tired faster its like when ur feet get bigger than a 10 they have a good chance of hitting eachother on turns so most 5'7 ppl dont have bigger than a size 10 unless they're akward looking clown footed ppl

Two regulars at my arcade are this girl who wears camo pants and this dude who wears sweaters. The girl's maybe 5'2" and weighs maybe 95 lbs. The guy's maybe 6'10" and weighs maybe 225 lbs. They're very good friends. Today, they were playing together, and it looked hilarious, but they were both playing an exceptional amount better than I can. It's interesting, the dynamic between weight and height. nerd.gif
