converting a soft pad to a metal pad is silly

think about it

both your question and your project itself imply that you don't have a good enough understanding to set off on your own like that. stick to the tutorials and guides

From what I understand, you want to make 2 metal pads out of one soft pad. It could be done, but you have to make your own PCB to convert the X,O,/\ and [] buttons to <V^> arrows. Very hard! I think you may want to instead, make all those buttons on one metal pad, but the X button can be the < and ^ at the same time! Kinda like a cheat pad! nerd.gif

I'm not worried about what it does (I'll just change it in stepmania). I was hoping you could post tutorials and guides...

You should buy DDR if you want Konami to make more songs. So, really, you should be interested in a pad that works as Two PS2 controllers, to keep it compatible with your purchased versions.

I meant like what do I do with the connection to the old ones, and where to solder.

I haven't updated my signature in ages.

you cut the old pad off, duh.
and then you solder to the contacts of the shape buttons. Just like you do with the arrows. Please use your brain.
