Well, it is interesting to think that perhaps that sort of extreme diet would work... but in a way, for every type of person that exists, there's another different type of diet that that a person could go on.

Ie;
Cabbage diets
Soup Diets
All protein diets
All Carbohydrate diets
Liquid Diets
All vegetable diets
"eat anything the size of your fist" diets

But what usually happens with any of these extreme diets? People lose their willpower and resume eating the "bad" things that they were supposed to eat (of course, if you're a powerbuilder, you probably have more willpower than most). Once they lose willpower, it's just a uphill struggle to get back on track.

Why not eat what YOU want to eat, but do it in a way where you know how to eat the right portions and balance it with other things you're eating? If you maintain a certain caloric level, there's no way you'll gain weight, and combined with exercise, it's foolproof.

I've found this out after losing 95 lbs by eating what I want (but drinking more water than usual, taking vitamins, and avoiding fast foods), and doing simple exercise (DDR hurhur).

Most doctors today will tell you that any sort of extreme diet is not going to be good for the average individual. But hey, if it works for you, more power to ya.

What part of not eating man made products like Bread, refined sugars and process grains...do you think is a fad?

We were eating meats and Veggies LONG before we relied on cereal and sugar and we (Humans) did just fine.

Please dont catagories what we should be eating as some kind of extreme diet. Man made processed food are what is extreme...eating clean range free meat, fiborous veggies and low sugar fruit is about as healthy as you can get.

Anyway...

Yeah, TONS of information. Frankly, you don't *need* anything but fruit to live either (A link to a site that says that, so it must be true!!), but that doesn't mean that it's a smart idea for someone to up and decide to follow. Oh, and since we're on the topic of random eskimo trivia, did you know eskimos have very high rates of osteoporosis and low life expectancies, despite having some of the highest calcium and meat intakes? Just thought I'd share.

laugh.gif I realise it is human nature to Shoot first and ask questions later. Im not the only one stating these things as facts , what disturbs me it the casutic board tone people take when you say something different than what they had learned.

I don't care whether or not you believe what I say or provide evidence for from Internationaly recognized specialists....it is up to you whether or not to belive.

However, to shoot your digital mouth off without doing any research or providing hard evididence to back you hypothosis makes you staements weak. Smarting off to a different opinion because your annonymous make you immature.


By the way...

Dr. Stanely Bass was a big beleiver in the "Fruitarian movement" so much so he studied it for 2 years:

Deficiencies from fruitarian diet
..... To relate the results to humans, this trial seemed to indicate that after being a fruitarian for the human equivalent of three months, humans would show deficiencies and imbalances and health problems. My results suggested that if a fruitarian lived strictly without cheating he would be able to do so for three months before deficiencies began to show. But since the average fruitarian cheats, he doesn't know the diet doesn't work. If he didn't cheat, after three months his body would start breaking down. He wouldn't necessarily die, but problems would start to develop.

I immediately added greens, lettuce leaves, and carrot tops. I was stunned by this experience. I determined that the cause of death was due to protein deficiencies, mineral deficiencies, and possible sugar poisoning from the excess fruit. This shocked me. I became so disillusioned that I stopped fruit in all the cages. I had about five cages at the time with about 150 mice. From there on no mice got fruit anymore. Only later, after many months, equivalent of several human years, did I gradually re-introduce a little fruit

I'm a Phys Ed teacher with a background in Exercise Physiology. I do not in any way shape or form support any alternative diet.

Saenoda has said it best here. Eat what you like within reason, stay hydrated, use some common sense (ie. avoid fast food), and exercise.

I don't care if you lose weight on the Atkins diet. Eating all that fat will be detrimental to your health.

Why I don't doubt your sincerity here on the boards and I am not going to put up a fuss (again I dont care whether or not people believe this findings at the moment)

I understand that any differance of the Rule in science is always met with skepticism. There are a few studies you could check yourself that you might find intertesting.

Well, I'm 14. I started playing about 6 months ago. I've stayed about the same weight (Lost 5 pounds.), but I'm a ton slimmer becauseI've grown like two inches in the last year. Also, because muscle weighs more than fat by mass, my legs and belly regions are much less wiggly and more dense, factoring in the muscle tissue. I LOVE DDR! It is a good game for those that wish to stay in shape and/or get in shape.

IMO..

I did the "DDR Workout" (Calorie Burner Mode). I was doing it for about 2-3 hrs every few days (I DDR'd in between those days, just didn't do it like I did with the CBM). In a period of 3 or 4 months I lost about.. 32 pounds.

*shrug* It worked for me.

[NOTE: I jogged some also... wasn't ALL DDR, but it was the main offset to it all.]

The first link was pretty good. I just want you to understand that my problem is not with low-carb, it's with no-carb. I listen to too many people (especially at my job) who follow the Atkins diet blindly without doing ANY research. And frankly it's a little disturbing.

As far as the second link goes...at first I thought "Having the Atkins site defend it's diet is like a person raving about a type of car. And then you find out he's a used car salesman. But even they seem to be moving from no-carb to low-carb.

Truth be told...once schools with reputable Exercise Physiology programs(like Ohio State, #1 in the nation. No, I didn't go there;) agree with such findings will I sway my opinion. We all have our sources, for now I trust ACSM and the NCAA. If it's good enough for their athletes, it's good enough for me.

Hey, I'm in Marching band too. You people have no Idea how hard it is to march 3 miles with a 50 pound Sousaphone on your back in the middle of July. ANYWAYS I'm 15 and I weigh about 230...I started playing DDR like a month ago, but I can hold my own on heavy right now, the strange thing is...that when I started I was 220, now a month later of playing almost every day I'm 230. WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!. It's probably muscle building up. But I'm not sure.

If you want to lose weight, become a Drum major. Drum Major camp is the best exersize available to people our age. I was dead by the end of the summer from it.

Meh, drum major = different things, depending on where you live.

In Tennessee = Drum major is a field commander.
Where you live, it probably means the people that dance around on the field while the band is marching (Not the color gaurd or majorettes)...

I actually did think about becomming a field commander once, but I would much rather march. It is more fun, plus field commanders have to stay at practice longer XD

my friend did that, and he lost like 90 pounds in a year, and he's been doing that for 2 years, but drop the banana for another fruit, like kiwi, its healthier(mom is a dietician)

Am I the only one who gained weight from DDR?

I started really playing it in November when Ultramix came out, and ended up gaining 7 pounds of leg muscle, weird huh? But anyways, if someone wants to see my before or after for the heck of it here it is (Note, not ALL of this weight was lost from DDR)

eat rice and chicken and oranges =D and not just a little bit, either... when i was 14 and first picked up ddr, i was like 5'4" and 140 lbs, now i'm 6' and 120 lbs riiight.gif and it's not like i starve myself or anything... just consistently play ddr and you can eat pretty much anything you want...

and reallie, you'll lose more weight playing arcade mode than workout mode...

Errrm.... What vitamins and stuff do kiwis provide?

The reason I chose bananas was because of the potassium in sweat that I lose while playing DDR E10.gif

My doctor said choose something with potassium in it and so I said banana and he said great choice.
