Just thought I'd throw my input in here seeing as how it's a pretty positive experience and all the negativity surrounding it sucks.
I played DDR for four years. I stopped with extreme because I was bored. Bored of the steps, bored with lack of innovation and tired of the community.
ITG makes it fun again.
I've been involved simply as a spectator to much of the events surrounding ITG since it's inception and I have to say that it's come a long way and there aren't any slouches running this thing. I've made trips to Foy's house to check out steps and to see the works he's done. These aren't your random bullshit edits here. He puts upwards of 30+ hours of work on some of these step charts. It may look like chaos, but when you see him and others in action you will realize that there really is a rhyme to his reason. Seeing him and others full combo them in the arcade drives that point home.
The mods are probably the best thing to happen to the game in a long time. The feeling of playing a song and going "Hey! That's cool!" hasen't happened since I played Unison Sudden back on 3rd mix. It's about time that feeling came back.
Every time someone has had an idea the staff have not only listened- they have delivered. Don't like the steps? Suggest new ones and chances are they'll take another look at them. Have an idea for a feature or a setting you'd like to see? Present your case and they'll take it into consideration. Idea for new music? Color scheme? Mode of Play? These are all things that have been implemented and changed, even very recently, due to user input. These guys are located in the US and they care. They aren't asking for 20,000 signatures to release an update, they work hard with some of the best in the country to deliver what could just be the next thing to bring you back to the dance floor. |

I'll say this.
ITG is more fun than DDR.
I've also played DDR for four years. Konami doesnt look like they'll be releasing another mix, and ITG is definitely doing everything legally legit in creating what is essentially a new DDR mix with new mods, new modes, a whole new level of difficulty, and songs that are all very good (very suited to the game).
It is a ripoff of DDR. I mean, stepmania was created as a PC PORT of DDR... Konami "invented" the dance genre and companies like Roxor games and andamiro have totally innovated.
I guess all I'm saying is that you really have to play the game when it's 100% complete before making a judgement against it. I'd probably think it was pretty lame too if all I saw was some insane step charts and some pictures. It's pretty much a new experience. _________________
