|
|
Hello, I'm having problems with my back button. I took off the back arrow to see if the arrow was just stuck, but like in another post I read about a soft pad... it goes "dunt dunt dunt dunt" It'll stop once I unplug the pad from the select start box... so I believe the problem lies in the pad itself... What could cause this? A short in the wire or ???? Any ideas? Thanks. |

Try to compare the placement of the sensors in the back arrow with the placement of the sensors in the other arrows. But if that doesn't work, since it's a soft pad, you can just buy another for like $10. _________________

Well the problem is with a metal pad.. not a soft pad... I was referring to a recent post I read about a soft pad. I'm going to try cutting a wire and seeing if it stops... if it does, it'll have to be a shorted wire and I'll just rewire a bit. |

I recently had a problem with my "back" arrow (I'm assuming you mean the down arrow). One of the soldered wires had broken, so I just had to re-solder it back on. Works like new now. But that was slightly different than your situation, because mine quit working altogether. But it's just a suggestion of what to look for. _________________

I tried cutting the wire and it was still stuck... I narrowed it down to the circuit board that everything goes to before it heads out to the control box. I'm going to try finding out which wire is from the stuck arrow and cutting it. Actually, I've had a lot of probs with cracking buttons which I replaced and stucks arrows.. I might just go all out and get a cobalt flux... Either that or the Ignition 2.0.. |

Not too sure... I got it off of ebay. I was just getting started in ddr as a way to work out... It's better than running on a track. So I got it off of Ebay back in June |

A friend of mine had a pad like this. After a ton of use, the back arrow started to stop working or work super rapid. So, we unscrewed the arrow and after looking super close i was able to see that a super tiny piece of foil had scraped off and was permanently connecting the 2 wires on the circuit board. I scaped the foil off the contacts and the arrow was fine again. About a month later a few arrows stopped working, but those were just broken wires which were easily resoldered. Anyway, I suggest taking a close look at the pad to see if stray foil or solder is bridging the circuit. _________________

How should you open a soft pad? Cut it but where? |

Well I looked around and took all suggestions... but still didn't work. So I ordered a Cobalt Flux... That should do the trick |

I've had alot of problems which ive modded with my ebay pad. The problems that have happend like yours was.
Un solderd wire. Although it is unsolderd, when your press on the button it may press the wire against the circuit thing. Which would end in some connections. Check all connections. If thats not it, take off the button. There should be a little circuit connector, its brown and silver, several lines. Sometimes, I dont know why, but mine develop some crap on them. I guess its slightly moist, so it's obviously connecting the circuits. Take a towel and whipe them down, rub hard. If that doesnt take care of it, it could be the foil on the button. You can purchase Foil tape in the plumbing section (I think, if not, ask.) to replace the current poopy on there. The padding that lifts the button back up may be wearing down too. You can purchase some weather stripping or find some padding around the house. My dad has a small buisness in the basement selling computers and stuff. So I used the anti-static pink padding that computer parts come in. It works just fine. Thats about all I can think of, hope I helped. _________________
