An import is anything that is taken out of where it originated and brought into somewhere else. Import games are bought in their respective country and brought into another one (IE DDRExtreme is an import because its from Japan and brought into this country)
True you can use the game enhancer and boot disk to cheat their main purpose is playing import games. _________________

Because I have the newest PS2 and the Swap Magic CD boot disc wont work on my PS2. Im still curious as to see if anyone has tried burning a game like party collection to a dvd and being able to play it, seeing as this is the only other possible way; unless of course there is another way to play Party Collection with a flip top and with out the Swap Magic CD boot disc.
BTW, is the Swap Magic boot disc the only one that will work for PS2 CD based games?? |

Alright, now's my turn to ask the questions.
I'm planning on buying my fliptop from www.ps2fliptop.com .. since you guys said that ps2cover.com takes too long to ship.. alright, am i safe to assume that i should buy the
COMBO: TOP (V9, 50001) BLACK (solid) + SMD USA ver 3 (cd is ver 3, dvd is 2.0)
...if my ps2 model is a SCPH-50001?? (the order page is at http://www.ps2fliptop.com/order.htm)
Is that the one that would go with my ps2 (i have ps2+, v10)..
will that COMBO: TOP (V9, 50001) BLACK (solid) + SMD USA ver 3 (cd is ver 3, dvd is 2.0) be compatibel with my v10 ps2+? please reply asap, i would like my fliptop fast so i can play extmree |

Nice caps. I would except that V9 is a 50001 too. They just have the letters P and H switched.. That's the only diff between the module numbers (That the page says) so I don't know if they mean that the fliptop is only for V9, (50001), or if they mean v9, and v10.. |

Im pretty sure the only difference betweent eh v9 and v10 is an upgraded board and different date code. I dont think they changed the outer hardware so it should work. _________________

Slide Cards = bad idea
They will put extra wear on your ps2 motor, I wouldnt suggest you get one of those. I wouldnt get a mod chip either. They are expensive, and hard to install.
Best way to go is a flip top. Cheap, easy installation. Takes 15 mins at best. _________________

Thats the same version I have and it kinda sucks. They say you can play Extreme using the Swap Discs and the flip top but they say the the CD swap disc wont work on our version ps2's. It says it on the website. So if you want to play a game like party collection, you cant |

Is it possible to use something like an action replay in place of a boot disc? (for ps2) _________________

internet - yes, but you will need some way of swapping the CD without pressing the eject button (slide card, fliptop or uncovered PS2)
DDR R@V3 B0Y - your question will be ignored. figure out why. |

Something odd i noticed when I was looking on the websites of the flip tops but I think a new version of Swap Magic Boot discs came out to support version 9 and 10 PS2's. But there is this new Japan Swap Magic Disc. Whats the difference between this one and the USA one??
Here is the direct link to it. http://www.ps2cover.com/sm3jap.html
I'm totally confused now because 2 weeks ago, there were messages on there that said Warning, the swap magic CD boot disc will not work with version 9 PS2's and now I dont see that at all. |

JAP boot disk is for a Japanese PS2. There aren't anymore warning because there is now a new Fliptop that supports V9 and V10 _________________

I'm ging to have to rain on PSX-Tech a bit. A friend of mine had his V7 PS2 modded with a Magic 3.1, and after the mod, his PS2 took a steady decline in performance, to the point where NO games would load and the drive even refused to open. And he took pretty good care of his PS2 to boot.
I cant say it was the chip though, because I have the same model PS2 modded with the same chip by CMCM around around the same time, and it still works perfectly. _________________

Well they have always had a flip top available for v9 and v10 ps2's, they just say it was with a slight modification. That message hasnt changed but they did take down their warning about the Swap Magic CD boot disc. I wonder if they made an update to the disc to work with the V9 and 10 boards. |

How can you tell by looking at the back of your PS2, which version you have? Is there a website which lists the version numbers? thanks |
