Hello, I am going to plunk down the 200+ dollars for an RO pad, but i have a very important question.
I only have a dreamcast. I have a controller adapter that plays playstation dance pads on the dreamcast. but the RO has a control box adapter that goes from the pad connector to the playstation connector.
what i wonder is if it is ok to connect 2 adapters to play it on dreamcast, kind of like Dance pad-->control box-->PS to DC adapter-->dreamcast.
does anyone know if this works, i would appreciate any feedback on this before i actually do buy the pad. |

I personally don't see why this wouldn't work.
But if you're going to spend $200+ on a dance pad, I have to ask: why not drop $50 on a PSone and get some more DDR? Modifications are cheap; you could get all the versions up to 5th MIX. 2nd MIX and Club Version can't possibly last you too much longer.
If it were me, I'd mod some soft pads, get a good deal on a PS2, and play the more recent versions. Oh, wait, I did that already. =)

There's a fair chance it won't work. The Dreamcast controllers don't register Up+Down/Left+Right at the same time. The converter could possibly exhibit the same behavior. Have you been using this converter already with other mats? Does it work okay? If so, then you'll probably be okay.

There may be time lag with the signal going through that many connectors
E.G. You press arrow now, it gets registered on-screen .5 seconds later _________________

1. of course im gonna get diff DDR versions. im gonna buy a PSone with konamix on ebay with the pad.
2. Yes, i do use soft dance pads with the adapter. the up and down/left and right combo respond just like any other step, no abnormalities.
3.Thats the kind of answer i wanted, lag time. I was hoping that someone here might have already done the same thing that im going to do (use both adapters at once) and have already known IF THERE IS a lag on button presses. If the lag time is as extremely bad as your example of what it could be, then i might cancel the order.
so far, these posts have been of help... except for the one that just says stepmania (my computer will never be fast enough for stepmania) |

If there's any lag, it shouldn't be any worse than what you experience with your mats currently.

I think I'm experiencing this. I think I sometimes get good step. But I'm thinking that since I'm used to playing "DDRMAX 2" US alot, it might be the timing differences since its based on the Japanese arcade version.
Also, anyway to un Flat the arrows on "DDR: 2nd Mix"? I mean have it not be the same color? _________________

theres no way to unflat the arrows in that version. konami was smokin something new when they overlooked that. Thats why i got DDR club mix. all the music from both appends and the arrows are colored arcade style.
a big plus is that (to me) it seems to run at 60fps when you play the songs in practice mode. its great for getting the timing on the arrows down. |

Don't buy the RO pad! It sucks! Try and save up for CF! Notice all the threads with people with trouble with their RO metal pads. You have been warned.

They didn't overlook that, it was always that way until they thought it up in 3rd Mix (or whenever). |
