Maybe you guys can help me. Or maybe I can help you.

I'm sure that there are probably a lot of you who have tried to start up some kind of get-together-hang-out-and-play-DDR kind of thing. I know I have. Or I am, but other that DDR, I don't know where else to start.

Let me give you some background: Every month, my inner circle and I get together and play DDR. We're trying to get better to enter competitions. For ANYONE out there, especially administration here, what do I do now? What pads do I get and for how much? How do I get more people interested? Is something burinig? Should we meet at arcades, or do most of the dancing at home?
And remember, this post isn't just for me, this is for anyone who would desire nothing more than to follow in DDRFreak's footsteps (and never surpass them. They are like gods, teachers, mentors, senseis, high priests (secret lovers?) and if you think that you are better than your god, you die, you die right now.) Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you sooooo much for posting. I really need the advise.

Well, there are some nice things off of the internet, ya know, I think pads are pretty cheap. $16.95 for a pc-or-ps pad that lights up (cheap l.e.d.'s on the sides but oh well) and as for getting people, I don't know anyone that I've ever met and know besides me that likes DDR so sorry E10.gif

And go to arcades, it may attract people.
But home is good too!

For me, most of the gatherings during the weekend are normally at Pro Swap Meet in San Bernardino, Winnetka Fun Zone in Chatsworth or at Vans Skate Park in Ontario MIlls. The big ones are at Arcade Infinity on Friday/Saturday nights in Rowland Heights. So popular are the gatherings that they earn the nicknname "CLUB AI!". Is that a trip or what? Please reply, over! Thanks!

The way we do it is basically theres like 5-10 of us, and well meet up once or twice a week in the arcade... If youve got metal or modded soft pads that works also, but dont go playing on soft pads and expect to get better fast... We have metal pads at at one of our houses, but most of us use them more for social playing, rather than practice. Save that for the arcade machine.

One of my friends used to have a DDR club back in 2002, he held meetings at one of our local arcades every Saturday. We had the meetings for a bit, then we'd go downstairs to play DDR for a few hours. It was a lot of fun, and it brought everyone together. We don't have the club any more, but everyone still hangs out when we can all get together, and we still have good times.

I'd say you guys should meet in arcades, since that seems to work really well from my experiences and from what I've seen. Plus, meeting in arcades could interest more people into playing and joining your club. Hope things go well for your club.
