The arcade machines are playstation based, so its not a matter of just 'installing'. You need to mount a computer inside the cabinet. Then, use TV-out or a converter to hook up the video, and use a PS->USB adapter with some creative wiring for the pads. |

All you need is:
1 - DDR machine
1 - PC with stepmania
1 - J-PAC (ultimarc.com)
1 - ArcadeVga video card (ultimarc.com)
1 - 8mm to Stereo RCA cable (for audio out)
Basically the J-PAC does all the work for you. Plug the jamma cable into the J-PAC. Install the ArcadeVga card in your pc. Hook up the VGA out on your card to the J-PAC. Run the setup program to configure the J-PAC to the keypresses you desire. Then if you want wire up the test button to one of the wire screws on the J-PAC (because the J-PAC doesn't support the test button by default). That's it. The DDR machine is a standard jamma setup. The arrows are all hooked up to joystick directions, and the left and right selection arrows are buttons 2 & 3 repectfully. Then finnally hook the audio cable to the audio in on the internal amp in the machine.
I still have to figure out the pinouts for the lighting control. _________________

As for hooking up lights it looks as if DJ Bouche on the Aaron In Japan forums figured out what they use:
"To use lights you need to set LightsDriver under Options in StepMania.ini. Set it to "Parallel" for the generic parallel port driver.
It basically just sends the lights as a bitflag (in the comments of the source code it does mention Kit 74, do a google search on this). I've tested this with a LPT cable which has 8 lights on it to signify the output bits whihc owkrs pretty well (apart from the fact they're too SMALL for arcade lights ).
The lighting system itself is quite simple, it pretty much simulates DDR in most of the modes but in actual gameplay it has one ligh constantly on, a light flashing to the beat, and 4 lights flashing to the arrows. This is probably just what it will be for now but I hope they come out with a .lit file format or something or at least a LIGHTS note type for the .SM file format so we could make the lights arcade-perfect ."
As for building the device for parsing the data from the LPT port I would have no clue how to do that.
Quoted from the source: "Control lights with Kit 74:

That would be awesome if they did that at my local arcade. I would play all the time. _________________
