Metal Pad Discussion Part II

I've had a Red Octane Metal pad since Christmas and I'm wondering, would putting the pad on its side to store it hurt it over time? I want mine to last for a long time, but I also need to save space when I'm not using it.

My modded BNS v2.51 was kicking buttocks until it started to die in the middle of songs and not respond at all. So I opened the control box looking for something wrong, but I don't know what I'm looking for. When a controller stops responding at random times, it's definetly the control box, right? If so, where can I get another BNS control box (didn't see one on their site) or maybe the Red Octane control box would work. Anyone know?

[EDIT] Ok, so I opened the control box again and stood the circuit board vertically and now it works fine. I think it started crapping from the soldering being face down on the sticky stuff and little specks of wire/solder falling onto that and making wierd circuits.

I am going to clear this up for everyone who keeps asking. A Cobalt Flux is the highest quality pad you can buy, period. A cobalt flux will perform better and last longer, sure you can mod a dif pad and have it perform like a cobalt for a while, but it will die faster and over time perform a lot worse. This is how you should select buying a pad.

Money is not an object: Cobalt Flux
Have a smaller budget but still want a pad regardless: RO
Any other budget: Don't waste your time, save your money.

Why don't we edit the first post in this thread with updates on the neo pads, the lik-sang metal bar pads, and other updates on pads (like V2 CF's and RO metal pad). When newbs do actually read this thread, they just check the first two pages which are very outdated. We need to edit the first post up to date so that newbies can find their answers without having to post a thread or posting in this thread when it has been answered a million times!

I'm a bit of a budget consumer. This plastic pad caught my eye:

Is this going to last me? The next best thing I see are $90 metal pads (a deal!). I'm kinda tight on cash, so an answer ASAP would help.

Well Renee Thoes ones (the hard plastic ones) break easily and even though they sound good they are not i was just about to get one when my friends broke it took one week of play in light mode for it to break yeah thats right light mode so stay away or at least be for warned

alright I'm about to order a cobalt flux metal pad but i just have 2 questions...

Will it work with stepmania if I have the EMS USB2 adaptor?
Will it work with xbox if I get a playstation to xbox convertor?

BNS metal pads such as these, are they any good? I am thinking of ordering 2 of these (rather than order 1 Red Octane metal pad (or spending more and getting a Cobalt Flux)) but haven't really seen too much be said about them. I've looked through *most* of the pages in this thread, if I missed over thoughts about this pad I apologize in advance.

I'm mainly looking for something decent yet not too cheap (in quality); if I have to mod it, either with new plastic (although the polycarbonate is supposed to work without cracking from what I hear) or changing out copper crap or whatever...as long as a mod (or two) isn't too big of a deal, I don't have a problem with that.
