Ok im sorry if this question has already been answered somewhere in the 39 other pages of this thread, but i had a specific question for those who have experience with both Cobalt Flux and Redoctane metal pads...

Ok i recently bought a CypherGames metal pad off ebay.... yeah I know, E2.gif ... its good for up to about 7 foot songs, but as you can probabally imagine, it leaves me feeling very unsatisified.... Ill probabally end up trying to mod it (with my limited electronic experience) so if i mess it up, there are no worries... so soon im gonna get a better quality pad, either a RO or CF... but my question to those of you who have had a chance to try them out is, WHICH ONE??

Has anyone here had experience with BOTH of these metal pads, who might be able to tell me if the CF is really worth the extra money when i can get a RO for like 80 bucks less?? Does one lend itself better to freestyles (ie: could i do J-dogg's am-3p routine on it?) E13.gif

any input is appreciated...

CF is better for freestyling

I've had a Red Octane Metal pad since Christmas and I'm wondering, would putting the pad on its side to store it hurt it over time? I want mine to last for a long time, but I also need to save space when I'm not using it.

My modded BNS v2.51 was kicking buttocks until it started to die in the middle of songs and not respond at all. So I opened the control box looking for something wrong, but I don't know what I'm looking for. When a controller stops responding at random times, it's definetly the control box, right? If so, where can I get another BNS control box (didn't see one on their site) or maybe the Red Octane control box would work. Anyone know?

[EDIT] Ok, so I opened the control box again and stood the circuit board vertically and now it works fine. I think it started crapping from the soldering being face down on the sticky stuff and little specks of wire/solder falling onto that and making wierd circuits.

I am going to clear this up for everyone who keeps asking. A Cobalt Flux is the highest quality pad you can buy, period. A cobalt flux will perform better and last longer, sure you can mod a dif pad and have it perform like a cobalt for a while, but it will die faster and over time perform a lot worse. This is how you should select buying a pad.

Money is not an object: Cobalt Flux
Have a smaller budget but still want a pad regardless: RO
Any other budget: Don't waste your time, save your money.

This is almost completely true.

Yes, the product is no longer available, however.
The Konami DDR ASCs are the highest quality pad you *could have* bought.

If you really wanna get nitty-gritty, the arcade machines are the highest quality you could buy, but then it's no longer a console version E10.gif.

Why don't we edit the first post in this thread with updates on the neo pads, the lik-sang metal bar pads, and other updates on pads (like V2 CF's and RO metal pad). When newbs do actually read this thread, they just check the first two pages which are very outdated. We need to edit the first post up to date so that newbies can find their answers without having to post a thread or posting in this thread when it has been answered a million times!

I'm a bit of a budget consumer. This plastic pad caught my eye:

Is this going to last me? The next best thing I see are $90 metal pads (a deal!). I'm kinda tight on cash, so an answer ASAP would help.

The only problem with the pad is copper contacts, it doesnt say on the site, but its mostly that. You can find a mod somewhere on here to make it A LOT more responsive but it takes a little bit of work, but its well worth it

I bought those same exact pads. I like them. The arrows could be more sensitive, but that can be fixed with a mod. I've had my pads for about a month and they're still holding up good. I actually AAA my first song about a week ago with those pads. Overall, I like my pads a lot.

Just by reading the last couple of pages I think of this:
~The Same questions keep getting asked
~No one is not lazy, so no one will ever read all of the pages!
~The Forum needs someone who can find the top 50 ?'s and make a sticky.

BNS metal pads such as these, are they any good? I am thinking of ordering 2 of these (rather than order 1 Red Octane metal pad (or spending more and getting a Cobalt Flux)) but haven't really seen too much be said about them. I've looked through *most* of the pages in this thread, if I missed over thoughts about this pad I apologize in advance.

I'm mainly looking for something decent yet not too cheap (in quality); if I have to mod it, either with new plastic (although the polycarbonate is supposed to work without cracking from what I hear) or changing out copper crap or whatever...as long as a mod (or two) isn't too big of a deal, I don't have a problem with that.

Thanks in advance...
