how to install a fliptop:
1.)take off screws and screw covers from bottom of playstation

2.carefully lift ps2 cover off without breaking the reset eject cable. with the disc tray facing you, gentle pull the cover towards you in an arc so that both halves are side by side facing each other

3.)put a flat screwdriver under the left side of the reset eject harness and push up to remove the harness.

4.)unscrew memory card ports from case

5.)unscrew disc tray(tiny screws_

6.take white magnet off disc tray and put it in the same place on the new cover

7.install memory card ports in new cover

8. insert reset eject harness into new cover mke sure that the reset and eject buttons are in the right place

9.put the cover back on and move the ribbon cable so it's not pinched

10.put screws / covers back in super tight

play your import/backup ddr games
est. time to install-10 mins biggrin.gif

I haven't read any of this simply because it is ALOT of pages to go through.

Can somebody tell me if modchip.com is a legit site? I ordered a swap disk from there last sunday, its now monday, I've gotten no emails since a "thank You" email, I've emailed them about it and gotten no responses, it was either express shipping which was like 3 bucks, or UPS which was 15, for some reason express (which u think would be faster) was less so i picked that...now I am wondering where my swap disk is, did i get ripped off?

EDIT

I only want to play my DDR Extreme JP version, what will i need to play this, just this swap disk? or am i going to need other stuff

I refuse to answer a question that has its answer on the first page READ IT.

Anyway I believe modchip.com is a legit site. It was the first site I heard about when i learned of modchips.

erm huge problem, 2 days ago I got my fliptop biggrin.gif My friend who already has one and installed it himself came over to do it for me. we got the exact same instructions he used to do it, and he finished it easily without any problems, then we went to test it out and every game we put in had disk read errors, So we tried a ps1 game, and it worked O_O.

We brought it to his dads workshop to see if he could figure it out but he couldnt.

Now its at my house and it wotn even read ps1 games anymore. Im stuck buying a new one (since 1/2 of it is my brothers) but im just curious as to what went wrong...

Another thing that was very strange was that it made a freaky whirring noise when we tried to start games up...Help Meee E2.gif

uh, which swap disk are you using, a swap magic or breaker pro? Swap Magic only runs ps2 games, and Breaker Pro only runs PS1 games.

The whirring noise means you need to tighten up the screws on your ps2. Real tight.

ReHaB, your pack is more than likely being held in customs. I got my fliptop from ps2cover.com on the 20th and it came about 3-4 weeks later after being held in Canada's customs. Don't fret.

erm, I mean the game wont read any DVD Back ups (which all ps2 games are) Meaning it wont read swap magic.

Its not that there is something wrong with the swap disk we are using the laser is busted. E1.gif

If it can't read DVD-Rs its your laser. If you dont own any legit games and theyre all backups then you prolly killed your laser by doing that.

Swap Magic discs aren't DVD backups. Those lines on the bottom are what make it work.

Oh, quick question, do u put cds under the small rim on the left of the disc tray?

DVD backups will only work on the PS2 if they are on DVD minus R discs. They won't work with DVD+R or any RW disc.
