Lil kids who act like they own the machine (gradeschool kids) annoy the freakin be-geebeez out of me. I live in Arizona, I've got no prob with Mexicans, but when they try to play the game then attempt to play this game and act like zombies (the light's on and nobodies' home idea) it really annoys me.
I hate poor sports. Or sore loosers. Or those who are better than you and they rub it in your face. *throws big glob of icky stuff at players like that* _________________

Here comes my list.
1. People who ask to shadow while you're playing. I'm trying to SDG some songs (Single Digit Great in case you don't know) and they walk up and ask that in the middle of a song. It breaks concentration.
2.People who lean on the bar(s) while I play Single or Double. Sometimes I need to reach back for it and it throws me off if there's a hand there.
3.Little kids who try to hit the arrows I use. If they hit the unused side then its fine (on Single) but otherwise its annoying. At least the parents of those kids where I live know when to get the kid off.
4.The aforementioned kids' parents. Even though I stated most parents where I live know when to keep a kid off some don't. But more importantly they should stop it once they see the kid start to step up to the machine.
5. People who are ashamed of good scores. Like people who practically AA a hard song and cover the results screen with their hand so they can't see it. It's kinda a shot to the pills for players that aren't that good when they see that a score we can't do yet is considered bad.
6. Hecklers. I hear people saying to their friends stuff like "Oh they must practice like a million hours a day and have no life and just play this game" guess what, one doesn't have to be blindly devoted to something just to be good at it. Going by that logic everyone on the planet must be obsessed with breathing cause we do it 24/7. Okay that example must suck but you get my drift.
Well that's all I got now...maybe more will come but I sure hope it doesn't. |

n00bs who shadow me. That really gets on my nerves. I'm not trying to say that all noobies do this but...like, when i'm playing on heavy, a light level n00b will jump on the bad aside of mine trying to practice a heavy song...their offbeat tapping will sometimes throw me off, and then i either fail or do poorly. Then they walk off talking about how much I suck.
yeah...it really pisses me off. _________________

(This may have been said before...)
Kids who take your placeholder like they "found it," even though you put it up a minute ago and are standing right there!

pretty much being a middle level player, I think my biggest peeve is
1) little kids
they used to be much worse at the arcade I was at, though now the parents and younger kids have learned. It got to the point with me that once I was on the pad, I tune it all out. If a parent is going to stick their kid up there, and I step on them, its not my fault im not paying attention on a game that gives no incentive to. If i step on your face, its your fault for being there
2) Pads.
Our machine used to be really good, i loved it so much. But now (probally partly my fault) the arrows may not respond like they should. Like on freezes and such. Thats my tiny amount of time to rest, ya know? Im not moving, yet it decides to "flicker and die".... I hate it so much, but really- What can I do?

Yeah, haven't you heard of a coin line? They had them back in the 80's when Dragon's Lair was popular and they have them today cuz DDR is popular. It's pretty much the national standard of how to keep your place in line so nobody cuts in front of you (doesn't work that great though...) |

people put coins so that they dont have to stand there the whole time waiting for their turn. they can put their coin and then go get water or somethin like that. it works especially good when there is a long as$ line. _________________

Geez, people, appreciate your score, hate it, maim it, bar rape it, do whatever you'd like about it. But please, for my sake and yours, keep the negativity in your head. It makes players like me who can barely pass 9s and such feel really low when you say things like that.

Man, you hit the nail right on the head with me on that one. Almost all the players at my arcade are better than me, and there is only so much fake pity I can give them after they whine about getting an AA some impossible song. And it's not even with DDR; I despise anyone who covers up their talents in a chance to appear modest. Look, you know you're good, we know you're good, the whole freakin' arcade knows you're good. Just be glad you don't have two left feet like the rest of us. "Man, I totally messed up So Deep. 5 greats, damn it" Yeah, I'm really feelin' for ya buddy.
Also, not really a pet peeve, but something bizarre. I like to play alone, but whenever I play with a crowd, it happens. I walk onto the pad, put in my coins, and every single conversation being held by other players comes to a halt. And I'm talkin dead halt. Nothing but an awkward silence in between songs. And I can feel them watching me as I play, staring in to my soul, undressing me with their eyes!
Allright, last part probably in my mind but still...creepy. _________________

-I really hate it when I'm playing doubles and people try to press a few arrows, or even take over the whole pad on the side that I'm not using. Not only does it distract me, but if there's a sudden run on the opposite side and they're still on it, we're both screwed; they get bumped and I (usually) fail.
-Same as above, but with little kids--usually toddlers. Most get right in the middle of both pads and cease to move....that's usually a guaranteed failure and it really ticks me off.
-What also gets on my nerves are people who continously put in credits and continue to play game after game as if they're the only ones in the entire building. This usually only happens when the arcade is semi-empty, but I still find it rather rude when someone hogs the machine like that.
I can pretty much stand everything else. No one seems to break any other card/coin line rules where I play at, so I haven't really had any bad experience with that type of stuff. |

Again, I've only played for five days, so I have yet to put up with any of your problems. Since the machine I use is at the movie theater I work at, there is occasional traffic, but it's few and far between. And, even though I had no concept of what DDR was before I started, most of what you are talking about were common sense to me. Like shadowing. It was obvious to me that shadowing is a:annoying, b:cheap, and c:stupid-looking. On my second day, I spent two hours straight on it. Yes, but there was NO ONE THERE THAT DAY...we were closed for inspection. Even when I ever wanted to play a few times in a row, I always bow out to the pros who come in and want to use the machine. So, even a complete newbie can grasp the courtesies intwined with DDR.
So far, my pet peeve is when I mess up when I get tired. (I got my first D in a couple of days, cuz I tried it after working a nine hour shift) I don't think this counts, but it does to me. You'll probably want to disregard my post, and I wouldn't blame any of you. _________________
