I was wondering this site could follow the The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and require kids under the age of 13 to have their parents verify them being able to sign up for this website. For their protection and ours. _________________

Just force them to enter in a bday without telling them whatll happen if theyre under 13. Plus if theyre smart enough to get around the age 13 rule then theyre probably smart enough to not cause problems here. _________________

IIRC, it's enabled by default, which means that it was consciously turned off when the BB was set up.
Personally, I think it (the law) is a farce as far as it pertains to Internet content, because as we all know, anyone with bad intentions is going to resort to bad behavior to go through with it. It does nothing for anyone other than to falsely comfort parents who aren't raising their children. _________________

I thought it didn't let you register if you clicked "I am under 13 years old" _________________

Maybe they should make something less obvious. Like what geocities did where youd type in all your information without any prompts. Then it would pop up and say blah blah youre under 13 and cant register and send you a cookie so you couldnt just go back. _________________

As if you there was an extra option in the profile set up that included age but didn't make it public. And you would automatically set up your profile upon clicking 'Register'. That would probably catch some people off guard. _________________
