im just hoping that Konami gets smart and makes DDR Ultramix online-compatible just like they did with Ultramix. Then people wouldn't have to rip on how there is "nothing new" for DDR games that come out these days.

Playing online just bumps everything 3 notches higher, think about it.

And I do hope there are more than 71 songs on this game, otherwise it has nothing on DDRMAX. And that wouldn't be anything too Extreme, would it now? But I'm very happy to hear this news, as my friends have doubted ever having a release of DDR Extreme for the US PS2.

Thank god I'm a believer riiight.gif

This is so kickazz. I'm going to go and reserve myself a copy. I hope they don't ruin it like they did with MAX2USA. I hate all those repeats.

I already have the import of DDR Extreme, but I'll grab the US version when it comes out. My main reason for getting the import, I'll let you know, is because Konami of America assumes (and probably correctly) that Americans don't want to be treated to 7 mixes of Paranoia on the same game. Personally, however, I love the Paranoias and the Maxes. If KOA keeps these songs on here, I'm sure that they'll be able to please everyone, but if not, I'd recommend at least having more songs than the Japanese version to complement for the loss of some.

That's why Thomas Edison invented punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure. (Actually, Tesla invented them, but Edison got the patents.)

No, it's just you too used to StepMania. Those are SO DDREXtreme.

Shinmizu, please don't double post. And actually it really was 1997.

Anyways, I believe that I can't wait for this mix. I'm so excited for it. Does Team Sneak Crew know anything about this? Are we going to have another fun trivia game thing where we guess the songs, like we did in Max2 US threads here? Haha. Those were so much fun. =D

As for Mission, it's probably like 4th/Extra/Ultramix's Challenge with a new name, but a cool (yet farfetched) idea for it could be where you challenge opponents (computer-controlled) to a game of DDR or enter tournaments. If you win, you earn cash that you can use to buy unlockables. But, maybe just sticking to the Challenge Mode-type of Mission Mode may be less confusing and easier to work with.

For people not familair with this, the mode on 4th mix would give you certain challenges such as not getting any perfect steps, only getting good steps, and not getting a combo chain of more than XX(X) steps.

Well, those certainly aren't my favorite four songs to have been "announced", but they're not bad, either. Also, if the whole song in the back of the manual tradition continues, we're going to see Keep on Lifting. erm.gif

But hey, as long as we're throwing out random song names and hoping they'll be on this new version, how about ever snow? Do that, V, and A, and I'll be happy.

what's so bad about it?? it's a good song that's never been put on an american console release (atleast playstation + xbox), i'm not sure about dreamcast.

It was put on the extreme arcade mix...

Plus, you don't have to play it, i will riiight.gif ... my friend said that if they don't put it on she's going to go insane and destory the game, she's mad at konami for never releasing it...

Shinmizu, your right, because they even have a song called "1998". It even says that on the case of DDR Extreme home version.

Tachyon wrote:
- Be For U and Sana (and the freaking Togo Project, too) are employees of Konami. They didn't have to be coerced into selling the rights for the US market, the big K already owns their work.

Just to clear something up, these are examples of musicians who work exclusively for Konami to produce music for whatever Konami needs music for: Naoki Maeda, DJ Taka, Akira Yamaoka, Mr. T, Scotty D, Thomas Howard Lichtenstein, Togo, all four BeForU girls, and anyone mentioned in the about the artists sections in the manuals. ( The four members of BeForU need to get recognition in the next manual! E1.gif )

These musicians have carreers outside of Bemani and Konami just pays them a commission to do a song for them: TaQ, Sana, Paula Terry, Aaron G, and pretty much of all of the lesser known vocals done in Bemani such as Julie ( Frost ), Mickin' ( MIU? ), and the guy who rapped DDR Solo. For example, when you see "Naoki feat. Paula Terry" it means that Naoki wrote a catchy sythesizer loop which he gave to PT who took it home, wrote lyrics, and then brought it into a recording studio for the final version.

And whoever said that the screenshots look like a Stepmania skin gave me a good chuckle.

And to settle the 97/98 debate I heard that even the 0.5th mix prototype was created in 1998. DDR 1st mix arcade was released in August of 1998. Thats why the copyright is 1998. If anything happened in 1997 it must have been some developer inside Konami trying to get his idea for a new dance-type of game approved so that he could start working on it.

Thomas Howard is sort of half-and-half I believe. He works for Konami and does songs exclusively for them, but he's also released a few CDs completely independent of Konami.
