I have a BNS Xtreme (I think)... well, it's a BNS foam pad. I got it last September ('02), and I really haven't used it that much. It sits against the wall for months at a time, until I feel like playing, then I'll play about four hours in a week. Then back up on the wall it goes. About eight months after I bought it, the left button started to go all weird on me. A lot of the time when I know I was hitting it, it wouldn't register. This usually happened after one or two songs. Lately (this month), the right button is doing the same thing. It's so bad that, after about fifteen minutes of play, the buttons stop working so much that I can't finish a single song. Is this normal wear and tear, or was I doing something wrong with my pad?

Have you just started playing DDR? How many feet can you pass? What is your price range? Is $50 too much? Could you post a link to the pad you are referring to?

Im just starting to play DDR. I've played it a few times before but I want to start playing it alot more. I really don't want to spend more than 30, I don't have alot of money. Here's the pad I'm talking about: http://www.levelsix.com/detail.aspx?ID=96

If you just started playing DDR that's a good dance pad.

Tell me if this is normal.

I get a BNS pad, the one everyone recommends, for Christmas.

It's only been a couple of weeks and I don't play ddr that much with it. But after a bit of play, I seem to notice the left arrow missing sometimes, especially if I have to hit it over and over, even during a jump of left and what ever else (doesn't matter how fast or even when I just hold my foot there), or sometimes when I jump on 2 freeze arrows and required to hold both down they act as a miss, mostly if it's left and right pressed at the same time, usually at the end of a song.

Playing Love At First Sight was a pefect example, missing several left arrows while alternating during the jumps. And this song is really easy. I played it today and yesterday and I got a B today and an A yesterday I believe. And I can AA this song very easily before I got the pad.

Sometimes I am just afraid of leaving my foot on the right panel.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a way to fix it?

Hmm...have you tried taking the insert out and flipping it over? If the panel doesn't work at all, you'll have to open up the box where all the wires are.

I need to know if there's anyway to keep my pad in better shape! I had one for about 2 weeks and it went all wacky on me... so I bought a new one, hoping for the best. But with every step, I'm paranoid about ruining it! lol. any tips for storage or anything to make the pad last a bit longer??

What type of pad do you have? Could you post a link? I'm guessing you're using one of those cheap $15-20 pads, right? If so, this problem is nothing new. Those pads break down very fast and easily. I recommend buying an Ignition (buy a BNS one).

Hi, I quit playing DDR like...2 years ago. I finally found someone to buy my soft mats for $25 each, they're the redoctane ones that have all triangle, square, circle, and X, with (thin) foam on the bottom...those are the first ignition ones, I think? I can't remember. I think I paid $50 each for them, though.

Anyway. So I dragged them out with an old game and my old PS, and tried them out today. neither of them function at all. they both light up, but neither of them are being seen by the PS. am I doing something wrong? it's been too long since I've last played...

He said one of the songs that was on the (DDR Mix) was "butterfly" but the song jam and marmalade was called sugar and maramalde. I asked him what the device was called "dance dance dance pad" i want to know if this was legit and if a scam I am confused???? Thanks for any help!!

Main Question :: Do RedOctane Ignition 2.0 Covers Prevent The Ripping Of The Top Portion Of The Pad With The Wireing In It?

Here's My Story . . . It'd Be Helpful If You Read It Before You Reply.

I recieved the DDR Max 2 Game with two RedOctane Ignition 2.0 pads for Christmas. I weigh a good 110 pounds, and I'm 15. My heaviest friend that plays this game is a good 150 pounds. Since Christmas (a good three weeks), we have played for aprox. 26 hours of game time. Most of these games have been on standard mode, so its getting a beat down from our feet.

After moving to heavy mode, I noticed that my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 Pad ripped in the edges of the middle where the logo is. There's a square in the middle of the pad and around the perimeter of that is where the ripping occours. I opened the pad to see the inside, and there were rips, larger ones in the same general area. I am currently getting the pads replaced. . .

After reading about mods, I realized that the face cover was the only one that seemed like it would work for my problem. The pads respond extremely well and they do not slide on my carpet hardly at all. The rips however, will probably end up causing the pads to short out.

I was wondering about this cover you could purchase from Red Octane for $15.00. My theory is this :: It eliminates slipping on your pad, which would eliminate the motion of the top of the pad. When you would step on it without the cover, the pressure would be going in the direction you were steping, causing immense stress on the pad, and then causing it to rip. With the cover on, the pressure would be directed straight down into the pad, which wouldn't hurt the top portion of the pad with all of the wireing.

Is my idea correct? I want to use this cover to eliminate rips. THAT IS ALL I WANT IT TO DO. I do not wish to use shoes. I can live without using shoes to make my pad last longer.

Any help is wonderful!
-Adam Fink

P.S :: Why does the cover cover everything besides the top right, or is that just how its displayed in a picture? And how thick is this piece of whatever the hell it is? It does not state what the materieal is made of.

I have the pad that came with the DDRMax2 package (with both pad and game.) Konami Dance Dance Revolution Controller. It has the game here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000A09EL/konami-20 and the pad should be there too.

Thanks, I'll look into a BNS Ignition. Maybe I should have just stuck with arcade... lol laugh.gif

Yeah same thing happened with me on my RO Ignition 2.0. You might want to try this though. Go to controller options and turn the dance controller setting to OFF. Once I did that, I haven't had any problems with the pad.

Has anyone tried the level six ---ignition type--- pad? Here is a link...

http://www.levelsix.com/detail.aspx?ID=20

It looks like it may be better than the BNS or Red Octane Pads. Anyone have any opinions about it???

disturb.gif So I'm pondering...

I got a Mad Katz beat pad with my DDR game, and the first few plays have been really good ((save for my lack of skill riiight.gif)), but I notice that it slips a lot, even when I put a non-skid mat underneath it. It's just the top rubbing against the bottom of the pad. Well I'm concerned this will loosen cables or sensors, so I want to mod it to prevent it from wearing out too fast.

Question is, where can I find a clear covering to go over the pad? I read one mod where the person used a hardwood floor covering. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks
