whilst picking the songs i tend to jump around in circles, nonstop until the song starts.
when the voice person says things such as "you're not an ordinary fella", "grab my heart", or after i'm done, "oh my GOD!!", or "i enjoyed watching you dance" i talk back to it..people find that hilarious
in matsuri japan, during the pause, standard or light, i spin around in circles, esp. if it's standard
i tend to spin around in circles while playing SPEED OVER BEETHOVEN on light
in afronova primeval i favor my left leg..don't know why
in any song i make up words and ends up with a stupid song that goes perfectly with the beat _________________

Spin the Disc (heavy): on the freeze arrows at the beginning, I tend to bounce my shoulders in the four beats the freeze lasts.
Holic (heavy): before the steps start, I do some stupid sort of techno-step to the beat of the music. ^^0
Drop Out (standard): on the RUR LUL pattern, I tend to exaggerate my upper body turns.
BreAkdown! (standard): on the freeze arrows, I involuntarily sway to the opposite side of the pad that the freeze is on. XD;
Those are all that I can think of atm... _________________

I don't have any quirks during songs, but for some reason when the song begins before the arrows scroll, I have to U R L D, in order to check the sensitivity of the arrows.
Also between songs, I always step off of the pad, dunno why. _________________

Well, it seems like I'm not the ONLY one with the odd Tsugaru "freeze" habit or singing along with Freckles...
But I do have a tendancy to flail my arms...and legs to the point that you can hear the BOOM (this is a 180 lb. person talking) across the room whereever I am- Fry's, the arcade, the theater, whatever!
And on A- (love that song) I seem to keep my upper body stationary- which makes it look like only my feet are moving- rather disturbing if you look at it from a distance. _________________

Okay...let's see.
- During HVAM, the stop, I yell "FREEZE!" (I noticed someone else said it too. Haha. It's fun.)
- My friends and I have an obsession with saying what's on the BGs to the machine. EVERYTHING in the BG of Max 300 is fun to say.
- Whenever the announcer says "You showed us - your ultimate dance, I can't stop crying! BUCKETS OF TEARS! UH-HUH, HUHUHUH...", I always mock the announcer.
- Whenever anyone fails I either say "Ashita ga aru sa!" or "Luck was against you. ...Maybe."
- I sing to Freckles and Candy <3 like there is no tomorrow.
- I play Love Heart on Difficult JUST to hear the machine yell "ONE THOUSAND COMBO!". And then I yell along with it.
- If I fail, I kick the machine (not hard enough to damage it) and yell "ballsack!"
- I trash talk Random Nonstop because it always gives me really hard nonstops. (Random Dancemania Difficult: Waka Laka, Cartoon Heroes, My Sweet Darlin' and Butterfly (Oni). Nonstop HATES ME.) Yelling stuff like "Oh F you!", "Damned bastard!" and random things of the like.
- Striking random poses whenever a song freezes.
- Singing really loudly and badly to Telephone Operator and Crash!
- Pointing to the robot on the screen of Telephone Operator and going "Look! It has a penis!" then I run away laughing.
...I <3 my weird DDR habits. _________________

After visiting Colorado, a weird habit I ended up teaching myself is falling off the pad and face-planting anytime I fail an Oni course near the end. I think some of the players there were present when I failed PARNOiA Brothers and fell over to kiss the floor.
For obvious reasons, I'll refrain from doing this if the floor's not carpeted. _________________

Wow, I never knew how many players had such annoying quirks. Maybe to passerbys it's amusing, but most of what you've all described would bug the heck out of me. I think I'd be laughing at you, no offense. It's one thing to have funny body movements and dance routines during a song, but to talk to the machine and call out your combos...well, that's just me I guess.
I really don't care what you do while you play though, since it's your $1. But one thing I seriously hate is when spectators (especially people waiting to play) are talking very loudly right behind you. The other night these stupid kids (well, they could have been 18 or 19) were screwing around on the machine, and when my friend and I took our turn, they started talking about how much they hated the songs that we chose. When we did Spin The Disc, this idiot started yelling "Spin that disc, baby! Spin that disc!"
So at the very least, keep it on the pad, people. _________________

That is funny.
When you're at home then you should be entitled to act however you want. Plus when you're with your friends being a spaz can be pretty funny. _________________

My point exactly... I'm usually just focused on doing well at the arcades, and when I have an decent-sized audience I pretty much at completely serious (but still having tons of fun!). However, when its an audience of my friends...
Well, see the previous point. _________________

I'm a friggin spaz when I dance... my arms go flying all over the place, my mouth is hanging open, and more often then not spit flies out of my mouth. Maybe it's because I NEVER... EVER... SHUT... MY... MOUTH... but oh well. At least I don't hit anybody. |
