I really don't know much about flip tops but have you even tried using the gameshark instead of the swap disk. Dont forget that when swapping disk that whatever game you play has to be the same medium as the swap disk
IE you have to use a PSX gameshark to swap for an import PSX game, you have to use the CD Swap Disk for a CD based game, etc. _________________

A fliptop is a case that replaces a regular ps2 top case. It has a door to the cd drive. I don't really wan to open the disk incase I find it cheaper, but I guess I won't. All I need now is some ps2 codes for the Japanese verson of DDR Extreme, and I know it will work. Could someone tell me if they find any? I have searched alot and I still can't find any. Thanks! |

What do you need codes for, DDR Extreme (I think all PS2 games) dont need codes since they dont have mod protection. _________________

Just to let you pplz know 5th mix DOES NOT work with the Breaker pro/fliptop. DUnno if it was a bad burn. It goes to the mem card screen, then the caution screen, and freezes after that. the disc spins with a neeeow noise like usual and then there is a AARR noise and stops, and it repeats this forever. Patched, all i got was the now loading screen. if anyone fixes it,plz let me know. _________________

From what i understand, you can get a boot cd called PSX-change that will work just fine with ps1 imports. Its about 30 bucks on any of the websites listed on the first post in this thread. |

hey larrikin, nice guide.
I soldered the wire required for a neokey (damn instructions had the wrong contact points, and i fixed it but now when my ps2 starts up the light blue circles don't spin lol)
anyway, assuming the contact didn't break (i suck at soldering), i should be able to play ps1 games, because i copied my gex:enter the gecko and tried the backup and it worked.
so what I'm asking is, if i get a fliptop, will I be able to use all versions of import and backup discs without using a gameshark? (with a neokey for ps1 and fliptop for ps2)
thanks. _________________

yes, but if your PS1 games have mod detection you will either have to patch them or use a gameshark/AR to put in mod-detection-blocker codes.
Oh, and if you didn't know, the fliptop requires you to swap discs using a swapmagic disc (it would probably come with the fliptop). |

Im still wondering if there would be something i could do to play MAX JPN and Party Collection because according to the websites, the swap discs dont work with my model ps2. |

I just finally got my fliptop from ps2cover.com. (Ordered it Dec. 12 )
Anyway, I have a problem. When I put it together it doesn't read the disc. I did everything correctly following the instructions on ps2cover.com.
The reset and power button work though. After that, I put it back together with the normal cover and it works fine.
Somebody please help |
