I like the arcade better. It's just more fun with people around and the pad is better (but for home version I've only used a cheap soft one at my friends house). Plus, there's just something fun about those flashing lights! E1.gif

Um pretty stupid question...(Unless you play under Heavy) It's pretty hard to acutally do good on a pad at home (unless you own a metal one, which still aren't as good as the arcade ones). For one thing you're going to slide all over or turn the bad another way, or you're going to rip it. But I guess you must only play Standard or Light, other wise why would you ask a question like this? Arcade pads are better because they don't slide and don't rip. E4.gif

Its a fact that cf pads are just as if not more responsive as the pads at the arcade. But playing on the arcade pad with the bar can not be beat, plus there are people....

Trust me, I'm a cata player with a cobalt flux, and I go to the arcade every day on my winter vacation. (No ddr machines near my college dorm - and no car = CF every day) Cobalts suck compare to the arcade- however theyre probably the best thing you can get at home unless you're skilled and can build yourself a nice pad

Arcade >>>>>>>>>>>> home

Not to mention the womenfolk watching you play laugh.gif

lolers, just like most peeps said, arcade by FAR ^___^

why? because:

1) you can meet new people
2) draw crowds
3) better pads
4) better song selection

^___^

Arcade all the way. Plus playing heavy on soft pads is like ice skating. Slippin and a slidin'.

Lemme fill you in here:

You are wrong about: Cobalt Flux. This pad is probably on par with the arcade pad, except for the arcade atmosphere of course. It's accurate as h3ll, never breaks, looks flashy, and has that arcade clap to it.

You're right about: Your right to give your opinion on pads, seeing as how you're a cata player. Also, very right about building the pad at home. Sometimes you can build it even better than the arcade, seeing as how you do it all yourself. My pad surpasses the arcade in many ways...[/b]

Even though my homemade mat is more sensitive than the arcade and it has every arcade quality (lights you know....) I still prefer the arcade, there's something about getting cheered on by friends when you get a AA and the music blasting and the doubles goodness that you don't get at home.

Um bio?

It is absolutely nothing like the real thing. Granted it IS GOOD, but after playing so much arcade, and coming back home to the flux.. It's nothing like it. The flux's surface is way too smooth which makes for a lot of problems.

First off its nothing like it should be, the real arcade pads have lowered arrows.

Also it makes it tough to find where arrows are (unless you have the perfect floor which does NOT let your pad move - I dont, and I imagine there are others.

Also it develops a bad double tapping habit as Ive noticed from many people. It makes it so easy and effortless (Like the difference between an easy home A and a near fail arcade C for songs like Exotic Ethnic and HVAM.

Last but least - what really gets me is the surface grips the soles of my shoes far too well. It takes a LOT of effort to do runs on it, and sliding becomes out of the question. - I really mean this too, as Im considering sandpapering it.

Definetly Arcade! The pads hardly ever mess up and you can play with your shoes and stuff. You can on a home version too but it's not the same. E4.gif
