Quote: | OK so this is a random question, I want to run an import psx game on a US PSX and I have no boot disc/mod chip, etc. The thing is that I remember seeing a few people that swap with their ninja skills and can get a import disc with the help of a us psx game. I know it has to do with switching it during certain spin speeds. Any takers on how this trick works?
PS.... I will be getting a boot disc, I am lazy and want to play today and not wait. |
hehe read this guide i found on gamefaqs: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/sony_swap_trick.txt
If you have a small PSOne heres what i did.
1.downloaded something thats like a action replay at megagames.com:http://megagames.com/psx/psx_utils_ar.shtml (download the last one)
2.burned the image (the .cue file not the .bin)
3.did that swap trick with the burned cd (the last one found in the gamefaqs guide)
4. put the antimod codes (save them into your memory card so you don't have a hassle to put them over and over again)
5. played my 5th mix
PS... you need something thats like a small folded piece of paper or a corner of a cereal box for the lid censor (lid censor is under that tab that holds the cover of the PSOne) |

This thread is mainly for people who want to play imports on their machine and what methods they can use to mod their machine. If you want to know some certain info like that, Im sure you can just make it its own thread. |

Has anyone have any idea how I can get PS2 JPN DDR games such as Max JPN and Party collection to work on the newest model playstation 2 with a flip top since they say that the swap magic 3.0 cd disc does not work on the newer models?? Would a gameshark work or am I just out of luck?? Im about to invest but I just want to know what my future holds when it comes to PS2 cd games. |

I have a fliptop on my ps2 and I want to play the Japanese DDR Extreme verson. I have a copy of Sawp Magic cd verson 3 and Swap Magic dvd verson 2, and I can't play it. Do I need to try the dvd magic disk then try the ddr game or what? When I try to play the dvd magic disk my ps2 says disk read error, yet my ps2 lets me play the cd verson3 of the swap magic disk. If it's an origanal import disk do I have to use the dvd swap magic disk? Also to let everyone know, on the Swap Magic verson 3 disk it does not say load disk. It brings up a menu with two options: one says load program and the other says video mode where you can choose from normal, NTSC, and PAL. I will also try to clean my dvd verson 2 of the swap magic disk to see if that helps the disk read error. I also have a newer ps2 which I bought 2 months ago, so it does not have a disk read error with other disks. Can someone please help me? |

Seeing as Extreme is a DVD game youd need to use the DVD disk. _________________

My dvd swap magic disk verson 2 does not work. There are a whole bunch of scratches on the disk when I got it. And to add to that when I try to load the disk my ps2 says disk read error. Thank you for the help, I guess I will have to yell at the place I got my fliptop and swap disks together. Does anyone know if I can burn the swap disk, or is there another trick that can work? Oh, and the disk read error onlyu appears when I try loading the dvd swap disk. |

Alright something weird happens to my ps2 whenever I try to play cd-roms.
I got a messiah 2 and dvds work fine, I can play all my us dvds and extreme and import sc2 have gave me no trouble.
But its weird because the first time I put konamix into my ps2 it worked fine, same for party collection and now I have to play with it for a good 10 minutes to get either to work, is my ps2 dusty or something? I'm thinking when I try to play party collection it reads the ps2 game like a ps1/dvd which has a completely different way of booting than from a regular ps2 game . . . _________________

I'm pretty sure the Swap Magic discs can't be burned because they have intentional bad sectors to prevent it. As for other tricks, try DLing and using CDLoader. It's a free program that sometimes works when swap disks alone don't quite do it (it's used in conjunction with Swap Magic; it's not a standalone alternative). |

if you have a gameshark (the original plug in the back of the console) for the PSone (the original one), you can just use that to play Imports? no mods? _________________

I have a fliptop installed, so could I use a gameshark or a action replay to play imports then? If so which is better (worth the money). If they don't play imports, I have heard thay play back-ups, if that is true how do you burn ps2 games? I have tried with my dvd burner drive, but it doesn't work. |

Well to kinda give you some answers (from what I have read in previous posts), you have to use a gameshark or action replay to be able to play PS1 imports. The Swap Magic Discs are used for PS2 games. I dont know if Gameshark will work instead of those. Thats what I am trying to figure out because they said on the fliptop website that the Swap Magic Disc CD will not work on the newer models of PS2 but the DVD still does, and I happen to have that model. So in order to play CD imported PS2 games, can I use Gameshark instead? But I have yet to get an answer. |

Well I was exited and went out and bought a gameshark 2 for ps2. I would use my swap disk, but there are scratches on it. Does anyone know a way to help remove the scraches? Also I have not opened the Gameshark yet, so is there a good way of doing this? |

The Game Disc Doctor or whatever its called grinds away a bit of the cd to help get rid of scratches so that might help if its not super scratched. Its 30 bucks for the manual one and 50 for the battery powered one. _________________

So do you think the gameshark would work? If so do you have any sites I could find info on doing this? Keep in mind that I have a fliptop, so I thought that changed the situation I am in. |
