You might as well get a pad cover anyway if you want it to last as long as possible.

so that's why that's happening? i figured it out whe i was in the menu's and i had my foot on teh left buuton while trying to press the down button, then i tried it with the right button, and the same thing happened...
i have the same pad as you too...(the new konomi pad that comes with DDRMAX2)
is there any way to fix it, because it's really pissing me off. i haven't been able to pass any songs because of this.

I just got ddrmax2 bundle for christmas and I also bought a mad catz beat pad. Well I want to get good so I started to modify my pads. I first started to mod the konami pad that came in the bundle. I first taped it to a board and started to play only to find that because of excess plastic on the bottom and the way the pad was folded in the box there is a bump right along the bottom arrow that i can't seem to get to lay flat which is annoying because I can't slide my foot smoothly to the back arrowing causing misses. So then I decide I'll try the mad catz pad. Well after getting that one completely modifed (taped to a board and put plastic covering over it) I'm horrified to find the front arrow is sticking down. At first I thought it was the plastic floor covering but after removing that it still would be continually stuck down. So now I have to return that pad. Has anyone else had a similar problem with the mad catz pad. I want a second pad that will be functional but not cost alot and plus I heard once its modified the mad catz one is fine. Also does anyone have any ideas on how to get the creases out of the bottom. I thought maybe using a hair dryer but I don't know what that will do to the sensors?

Hello everyone, I’m getting two Ultra DX-Xtreme pads and am wondering how to mod these pads, I know there is a tutorial about moding pads on the site but these have foam inserts and are raised, should there be any precautions I should take because of this?

Hey everyone!

I'm having the same problem with my soft pad... it's the one that came with the DDRMax2 package. When I'm stepping on the other directional buttons, the down one doesn't seem to work. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. The only solution I can think of is taking it back to the store, buy a new one, and hope for the best.

If anybody has any better solutions, I welcome them and thank you.

I am sort of new to the game and plan to get my own home copy finally.
Here is my question: I will be playing on a carpet floor, and i plan to buy a BNS DX Pad, so will i need to mod it? And where is the cheapest place to get one?

Someone was asking about pad covers. They do a great job of keeping non Ignition style dance pads flat. The biggest problem with those pads is they move around and they bunch up, especially on carpet. The pad cover prevents that and makes a world of difference. If you're even considering it, get them. You can find them at buynshop or at RedOctane.

If you're looking for a good deal on DDR Extreme and you can use a new pad, the best deal i've seen is here: http://www.redoctane.com/ddrxtremeignition.html.

There were a few people asking about the differences between the different Ignition pads. I've tried CypherGames, buynshop, RedOctane, and MyMyBox. I only own the RedOctane now and not the others, but I've tried them all before either because I bought them or a friend did.

Hands down, the best pad in the bunch is RedOctane Ignition 2.0s. They are the most responsive and have lasted over 1 year for me playing heavy. I AAA'd the first song I ever played on it and have never looked back since.

MyMyBox pads are probably second best, with less responsiveness adn they gave out much faster. A decent pad for the money, but not the best. All the others pads are good for the money, and if you can't spring for the best, might as well get one of these over the regular flat pads that come bundled with the games.

So I'm planning on buying the Redoctane bundle with the Ignition 2.0 pad and DDRMAX2 USA version... Is the pad fine by itself, or should I get a pad cover/mod it? I've never purchased a soft pad before, so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Get the BNS bundle instead on buynshop.com. BNS ignitions are just as good as RO ignitions but they cost half as much.

Really? Hm.. Most of what I've read says that the Ignition 2.0 is the highest quality.. Anyone else have an opinion on this? I want a pad that's going to last me quite a while, so I'm willing to spend a little more if it means getting a better pad. But back to my first question.. I'll be playing on a carpeted floor 99% of the time, so would there need to be any modifications I should make to improve the pad's performance/keep it from sliding (if it does)? Also, are pad covers really necessary? Chances are I'll be playing with socks or barefoot most of the time, but I suppose 15 bucks isn't that bad if it helps lengthen the pad's life... Sorry about all the questions, but I'm pretty new to this and want to make good decisions on what I end up buying. Thanks!

I want to get a ddr pad for home but I don't have alot of money to spend. If I get the levelsix Non-Slip DDR Dance Pad for Xbox and mod it, will that be pretty decent? And what mod should I use with it?

The RO and BNS ignition are practically identical except for the different logo. They both use the same type of hard foam, but the BNS costs half as much. Others on DDRFREAK also have used RO and BNS ignitions and say that they are the same and the the BNS is a way better value.

On carpet, the pad does slide, but only like 2-3 inches after songs like Exotic Ethnic heavy, which I don't mind too much because after the song I can easily slide it back with my foot. If you don't want it to slide, buy a piece of plywood a little bigger than the pad and duct tape the pad to the plywood.

As for pad covers, I don't feel they are really necessary except if you are going to play in shoes, and as you stated, you aren't. So a pad cover is required and I don't think the cover will protect the pad any longer if you aren't going to use shoes. I've only played on my BNS Ignition with socks and it still works great (I've had it for a little over 6 months and I can do 9-10 footers).

Have you just started playing DDR? How many feet can you pass? What is your price range? Is $50 too much? Could you post a link to the pad you are referring to?

So this bundle then? Only costs 3 bucks more than the Ignition 2.0 + DDRMAX2 bundle, and you get 2 pads.. If it's really the same quality, that sounds pretty nice.

Hey, hows it goin?

I need to know if there's anyway to keep my pad in better shape! I had one for about 2 weeks and it went all wacky on me... so I bought a new one, hoping for the best. But with every step, I'm paranoid about ruining it! lol. any tips for storage or anything to make the pad last a bit longer??

Hi, I quit playing DDR like...2 years ago. I finally found someone to buy my soft mats for $25 each, they're the redoctane ones that have all triangle, square, circle, and X, with (thin) foam on the bottom...those are the first ignition ones, I think? I can't remember. I think I paid $50 each for them, though.

Anyway. So I dragged them out with an old game and my old PS, and tried them out today. neither of them function at all. they both light up, but neither of them are being seen by the PS. am I doing something wrong? it's been too long since I've last played...
