They suck! I'm guessing that the Deluxe one also had arrows in the back? Don't even consider those pads, they will break down on you very fast. They are just like the other cheap 3rd party metal pad. You should just stick with the BNS DX Xtreme ignition.

The only good pads:
Metal Pads:
CobaltFlux
RedOctane Metal Dance Pad

Soft Pads:
BNS Ignition 2.0
RO Ignition 2.0
LevelSix Ignition 2.0

Hence the reason you buy a control box, it sits on the outside, umm yeh, I can't seem to think of any reason to make you believe I don't understand that. When soldering stuff yourself there are all kinds of mistakes to be made its a matter of personal preference leave it at that.

Primarily it shouldn't, later i hear the arrows crack, but that can be replaced rather easily. If you should notice any weaknesses in its performance such as arrows sticking open it up and check the contact system to make sure the wires are attached to the copper contacts and then make sure the aluminum foil under the arrow is in relatively good condition. Clean off the copper contact(I use a dust rag) once a month to free it from debris, that should be all you'll need to do for quite a while. The only mod I can forsee you may needing to do is replacing the aluminum foil under the arrows.

My friend wanted to buy a metal pad, and he found this one:

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=237&products_id=3681&PHPSESSID=b5c6484271699b4873690f86b6c1543b

I like the pad, and it looks cheap. It also says FREE SHIPPING. Does this mean FREE SHIPPING AND HANDLING?

Also I was wondering if any of you has it, and can give me opinions about it.

I want opinions, because i've seen a lot of threads about metal pads that break easily, or crack, and to make sure he does not make a bad decision.

I didnt find anyone talkin about this one here, so I'm askin.

Your opinions and help will be pretty much aprecciated.

PS: my english DOES suck

Ok, well heres the deal, the pad is no better than any other pad out there if not worse. Don't get cheap ones you havn't made yourself that come with a bar, there just isn't the weight ratio to keep the thing upright when you lean on it.

Some of the many cheap alternatives that give you a pad of the same or better quality would be a BNS, ebay(the ones without a bar), and cyphergames. You will most likely have to do repairs on your pad so buy a soldering kit(this is very simple to fix deattached wires with) and plenty of clear packing tape incase an arrow breaks.

Also shipping on an ebay pad will most likely run 40$ along with most other pads that way between 40-50 lbs. The lik sang pad you spoke of has really expensive shipping unless you live in(I believe europe), and there is a disclaimer in the shipping part of their site that disreguards the cost of metal pad shipping.

It should work great as long as you have a little know how and a soldering iron just in case. Oh yeh if an arrow cracks make sure your packing some serious clear packing tape its the hotness when it comes to fixing cracked arrows! biggrin.gif

I was thinking, would it be possible to solder an arcade DDR pad to a PS2 wires so it could be used at home (I don't know what the connection looks like so maybe itll just fit into a controler box drool.gif ) cause that would be friggin sweet!!

and yes, the BNS pads are very nice, just as nice as the RedOctane pads disturb.gif

Yeh possible but probably pretty complex and most likely cheaper to build an exact arcade replica and wire it for a ps2 yourself than to buy an old pad and rewire it.

just so you know I have done this mod, and it works wonderfully... I scored 3 heavy AAAs on 3 sets after modding this so don't let that person's not-so-good (no offence to the person, I am in his debt cuz without this guide I'd be minus one pad) matsuri japan score throw you off.

the only thing not mentioned in this mod is how to clean the sensor contacts. I used a metal scrub and it worked fine.

So how responsive is this pad in regards to the acrcade pad with the mods in YOUR experience? I am in the market for a DDR Metal Pad, and I am leaning towards the CF, but if I can pay less, mod it, and it still provides at least a year of good play, then I would be down with the MMB. Besides, $300 hurts!

my scores are better than aracde because of the timing window in home versions being better, but it is just as responsive as a colbalt flux (I have played on my friends) after being modded. The only thing I did differently than listed there is I used metal tape instead of duct tape (because metal tape is stronger) it is responsive even on 10fts, but that doesn't matter for me because I am bad without bar on 10s....

the only problem I have at all is it makes weird noises, as all off name brand pads do before they are completely "broke in".

Make sure you resist the temptation to play on the pad before you mod it because I couldn't and I paid for it with two small, but noticable cracks on the surface of the pad (not effecting gameplay just cosmetic)

If your looking for a mod for your BNS 2.51, use this:
http://www.geocities.com/chris_pruss/DDR/Howto_mod_metalpad.html
I used this mod on mine and it works so freakin good. I can play so much better using this mod. Almost AAed Afronova, big improvement from NOT AAing Heaven because the buttons used to not register on the inside edge. It's more sensitive than the arcade if you do each arrow right. The only thing is that this mod takes some time to do.

Lots of thanks to whoever came up with this mod.

I looked underneath my arrows on the BNS 2.51 metal pad and it's obviously different from the mymybox pads. I'm not quite sure how to apply the mod to the BNS pad. First off, there's a wire that runs under the actual arrow and another wire attached to the copper thing. Does the wire that runs under the arrow (taped to the arrow I guess) do anything?
