|
|
Hey guys i'm using a japanese PS2 and using bootdisks (magic 2.0 + the other downloadable one) as well as the no solder combination... my question is, will i be able to get the expansion disks to work with Karaoke Revolution or will I get screwed over? Has anybody else used any other game w/ append disks etc on an import console and gotton them to work? I'm thinking it wouldn't because when you exchange disks it would have to read the region code when you put it in -- or maybe it doesn't work that way at all, i have no idea...
Thanks.

Damn, well i just bought the game, and when it says insert expansion disk or regular disk... i get an invalid message, even if i try the regular disk.
that sucks .
i also tryed putting in the swap disk so it would detect the region and then swapped it out, but with no luck... maybe if i knew the timing for the region check etc?

I take it you mean the US version of K-Rev.
No, it won't work. At least not easily - it would involve doing swapping in the boot disc, swapping it out while it's spinning once the region code is read, and then swapping in the proper disc.
Not worth ruining your machine over. _________________

no, it works just fine... i just won't be able to get any expansion disks (if they are ever released) to work, in it's current state.
cool game by the way.

Try ordering a fliptop (www.ps2cover.com) and installing that. You can order them with or without swap discs, and although it voids your warranty, it works great. I've been playing DDR Extreme with a flip top and I haven't had any problems. Plus, it's compatable with Japanese systems. Since it opens from the top, you can swap the discs out and the system will still think you have a Japanese disc in it. |

that's basically what i have... i can play games just fine, but the problem w/ expansion discs is that you have to load the original game... then go in the swap mode... problem is that it re-checks the region code for the swapped disc, and since i have a jap ps2 that's no good... and you can't use the jap swap disc because you have to load the game first...
... ya know what i mean? I can get the tray to open w/o it detecting and such, but regardless it still opens the tray and checks the region code, which is what causes problems.

swapping won't work for expansions, as the base disc is expecting the expansion disc right away, not swap magic and then the expansion.
No-swap mod chips are the way to go, I guess. Except for PS1 games, which detect mod chips. Use an emulator for those, I guess... |
