I have a question. Some songs are done by male artists, some by female. This poses a problem. Male and Female voices have different ranges. So, if you are a guy do you have to sing in falcetto to do a song by a female artist? Or does the game accept you'll be doing it an octave lower? |

You can sing an octave lower, and it works just fine. _________________

I saw someone who could read that stuff trying to play. The song was Freckles, and he knew the lyrics, but the USA-bundled microphone wouldn't work with the Japanese game. I guess the USA-mic is a USB device and the J-mic is a 'normal' PS2 device. Spec-crap-ular.
I can't believe I'm saying this about a Bemani game, but don't import the Japanese version. It might be nice if you're an advanced Japanese student but it'll probably be unplayable for most of us. |

Well the JPS2 version was out many months before the US version. Plus the game was developed by Harmonix, not Konami. Harmonix had time to enhance the whole game engine before the US release. I'm sure we have a better product overall compared the Japanese release. It will just take us longer to get song packs released.
They should find a way to intergrate the EyeToy with an updated version of KR. |

Yeah, you can't just use any old USB mic, you need the official one. _________________

Again, like I said elsewhere, it's not bad if you're familiar with Japanese karaoke places (or Asian ones at that). My Japanese friend is itching to try it once I get a mic. The midi sounds is nothing new, it's what a good amount of asian Karaoke bars use.
It's not that it's bad, it's that Konami of Japan and Konami of America were smart. They knew what karaoke culture was in both countries, and catered to separate crowds. Americans won't understand WTF the Japanese KR is. It really isn't much of a game, more than it's a handy karaoke-bar-in-a-disc. _________________

I got Karaoke Revolution for Christmas!!! I've been waiting so long to play this game. I absolutely love it! I came very close on getting a perfect score on "When a Man Loves a Woman," which is one of my most favorite songs of all time and I actually did it an octave higher than the singer. I hope that at least one expansion disc comes out before Karaoke Revolution becomes extinct! I am in desperate need of more songs! _________________

No, I cannot find any information about an expansion disc. Everything that's out there is only about how the game can support one. No announcements or dates.
That being said, I have some info on how to get all the unlocks in the game other than the songs that were covered on the first page.
You get an outfit for a character for each gold you get in a stage in single player mode. You only need one per stage.
You get another outfit for each platinum as well.
When you have all golds, you get Bub.
When you have all platinum, you get Cherri (or whatever her name is).
You also get 3 more characters from playing in arcade much like how the extra songs were unlocked. You need to get all platinum on each stage. You can do this for each difficulty. |

I read somewhere that EB set out some rumored release date, but Harmonix has confirmed that they have nothing planned yet (at least neither does Konami anyway).
Or they could be lying, kekekeke _________________

I kinda doubt an expansion would come out so quickly. The game itself wasn't released very long ago. _________________

It's alright, I can wait. This isn't exactly one of those games I play every day. _________________

I played this game before at a friend's house back in November, but I got my own as a Christmas present. I'm enjoying it, it's a fun game. I've full-comboed a few songs, and I even full-Greated All You Wanted. I'll be happy if they release expansion discs, but it's really not a big deal to me if they don't right now.
And yes, a couple of those people do look familiar in the One Week video. _________________
