That's how most people start off.....when they start off playing DDR, isn't it? laugh.gif

Unless you're some prodigy who's either A) Been playing Stepmania for a long time and worked moves out in your head. B) Play to death your first couple of days until you get to heavy on like, your third day. C) Some math advanced wiz who can calculate how to step on what beat, what note, exact timing.

....yeah.

When I first started playing at the arcade, the only song I could pass was Dynamite Rave (thanks, Konamix). I could consistently get a B on that song, and other fun basic-3rd Mix songs such as Dam Dariram and End of the Century. I played about every weekend or so, and in about two or three months, I was on maniac.

When I first saw Josh (my bf) playing DDR, I wanted to play really badly but I was afraid to - you know like when you see someone that's really good at Super Mario Brothers playing and you have this urge to play but something makes you stay back and just watch them play? Yeah. I don't remember what I got on my first song, but when I first started out on light mode, I got D's and C's. Once I got up to A's, Josh urged me to play on Standard (which he had already mastered) and I was too scared... finally, I did Cutie Chaser on Standard and C'd it, which gave me the hope to play other songs on Standard. 6 months later, my goal is now to master Heavy mode and eventually Challenge! Muahaha! I don't think I'll ever be able to beat any Maxx song on heavy, though... frust.gif

When I started I was getting B's and C's, but that's because I had been playing music for 9 years before that, and rhythms were that hard to get down.

Yeah, I say that anyone that plays an instrument and is relatively good at it has an advantage over someone who doesn't. I've been playing the piano for 10 years now, so that helped me out a lot when I started. The thing is, to get to the harder Standard songs and Heavy songs, you don't just need rhythm, you need stamina, too, unless you're already physically "in shape" when it comes to your lower body.

I started with a lot of C's... but it only took me about a weekend to get to playing the 5's and 6's on light... within a month or less (I think) I was playing most songs on standard. Only recently as I played more and more and bought myself a metal pad have I moved up to playing solid heavy... although that was maybe... wow... I dunno... a long time ago... But either way it was pretty easy for me when I first started because I played violin for most of my life and I was generally musically-inclined.

When I first started, I kept getting C's, but because I kept raping the same little one- and two-footers, I got plenty of A's and FC/AA's after a short amount of time. It took me forever to advance to Trick, though. I was always too afraid of failing to try anything harder.

My first ever song was Do it all night (standard/light/basic), a 4 footer, and I got a B ^^ It was on Dancing Stage Euromix 1, so it's pretty good as a first song, as EM1's beginner mode is entirely 1 foot songs. I skipped that mode happy.gif

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

The first game I played was on a MAX2. I played three 2-footers and I got D's on each one of them. Hey, at least I didn't fail! E1.gif I guess the first two or three games, I got mostly D's, but after that my grades started rising.

I was a basic n00b..until I played lesson mode..

OH! so that's how they do it! *moves feet to both arrows* laugh.gif

I seriously didn't know that...I thought EVERYONE kept their feet in the center all the time...

Then I got better and better.....I'm still on standard and I am going onto easy Heavy songs and able to pass them with at least a C and higher...

I dont remember my beginning grades blink.gif

What Up Everyone!
I like to watch other DDR Players play. Then one day, I thought to myself, I have to buy a pad for my DDR games. I used the controller to play DDR MAX on my PS2. I really got into teaching myself to play DDR back in Feb. of this year, I think correctly. Of course I was a noobie when I got into playing that stomping game! laugh.gif

Then I transisioned to the soft pad and started out with the lesson mode and completed it. I pushed myself to be accurate in all of the songs in light mode. Later on, I had the nerve to go to the arcade and play on light mode. Then on to standard. As soon I was able to be good in standard, I moved on to Heavy mode. Since then I play on that mode. I even participated in 2 tournys this year!

I still can't pass some of the songs on heavy. I can only AA very few songs on Heavy. I know, I should go back to standard to improve my accuracy but I get bored very easily playing that mode!

That's how I can best describe my DDR career beginnings.

Domingo Gerald

P.S. Hey Easter Bunny, you should post some of your opinions in the Northern California Board since you're from there with all of the Scott Peterson drama! sarc.gif They even have a Modesto thread. It would make you feel at home! E4.gif

I could bang out mostly Bs and the occaisional A on 3 ft songs and below... C or D on 4 fts... and I couldn't touch anything 5 or above. I've been told that I was a prodigy of sorts... I just hopped on a pad and started dancing and, lo and behold, I was doing really well for a newbie cuz i got the concept of the game in a hurry.

But that's just me... and I went from nothing to As on every song in MAX1 and 2 except for the Maxes in 5 months... E7.gif

Go DDR prodigies!

This sums up my first week or so, now (the beginning of the second week E13.gif) I can get Ds and a small amount of Cs on fives, while I can barely pass sixes. And somehow I got a B on Dynamite Rave standard a few days ago.
