First the specs on the machine it runs on.

Powerbook G4 1.25 Ghz
512 megs of ram
Radeon 9600 w/ 64 megs vram
OS: 10.3

What happens is when I'm running it, going through the menus, picking the songs, and option menus, it runs smoothly without any jumps of any kind. But when I start playing the songs, I would say about a little over half way through the faster ones (bpm 150 and up) it jumps/slows down the flow of the arrows. The music keeps playing but the steps do just that. I've tried the two most recent versions with the same results. I've also tried changing the screen sizes, from full screen to windowed, and refresh rates with the same result.

Anyone else experience a simliar or the same problem? Also any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. biggrin.gif

Make sure you're not running anything at all in the background.

I'll check that. Wasn't running any other programs other than Stepmania. We'll see.

I checked out to see what was running in the background and it seems that everything that was running was part of the system/OS that should be running. I quit everything else program-wise and then tried it again, same result.

As do I. Everything that is running needs to be running. Still happens though. The songs that have animation for backgrounds also slows down the game as well. Net exactily sure why that's happening either. Maybe a load setting or something like that but I didn't see one when I was going through all the settings so who knows.

I found that turning off announcers helps -- doesn't get rid of all of the slowdowns, but substantially reduces them. I'm running a 400 MHz G3 PB with 320 Megs of RAM, and I have no idea what the video card is. Just whatever came with a Pismo PB. My main problem is that, for some reason, if I'm using headphones, the sound volume won't adjust. (I haven't gotten a pad adapter yet, so I've just been playing on keyboard to check that the .dwi files are working properly and everything.)

I'm having the same problems with my Bronze keyboard PB running OS 10.2.4 with 192 MB RAM. I've found lowering the resolution and texture resolution to help quite a bit. It still stutters once in a while, but nothing too bad.

Let me know if you find anything! I really hate the unintentional stalls in my dance routine! E13.gif

ibook running 10.2.1
whenever i go to bemanistyle to download a sim i get to the 'if your download doesnt start click the link below" and after like 3 seconds i get all these strange characters. Nothing downloads, just a weird page pops up. If anybody knows another website that wont have this problem (i also tried a para para paradise page that was on the stepmania website). If anyone knows a way to correct this problem show me.
(i would also like a good place to download all of 1st-5th mix) my friend found a site but lost it.

I'm almost 100% sure it's got something to do with the laptop overheating... I have that problem on all 3 of my laptops, and on my 1.4 ghz computer (256 ram) it works fine.
