I was looking to build my own DDR metal pad like TheKornKid's (and I must say that pad looks AWSOME ).

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a FULL list of supplies with the TOTAL expense (tax doesn't matter but I'm assuming it'll be thrown in already) and really good instructions of how to build it (with pictures of course). I'm a hands on learner so if I don't see pics I'm pretty much screwed . I'm sure there are many sites like this but are there any that fit me needs?

Thanks

The homebuilt metal pad discussion is a wonderful thing you should find what your looking for on the very first post with all the links and whatnot.
As for materials, those are listed on the individuals websites also with the places they were obtained...have at it!

Why not get an RO pad it will be cheaper in the end 20$ saved...
You must not look too hard because look at this pad threads are everywhere and all have that pad mentioned. This pad has acrylic arrows and foil sensors which are the 3rd party metal pad standard. CF is just above the standard biggrin.gif .

To make things short acrylic cracks although different grades are available. The foil sensors rip enough said. Im not saying buy a CF but there are better pads for the money.

I just got my cobalt flux and it's pretty awesome. But I have a question. Does anyone find it more tiring to play on a metal pad? If you do or did how long did it take you to adjust to it? And why is it more tiring?

it just depends on if u play at the arcade alot. If all u do is play at home on a soft pad without shoes then u may find playing on a metal pad to be a little bit more tiring. The only difference from playing on a soft pad to a metal pad is your shoes. if you are wearing shoes the shoes add more weight for you move around. If all you do is play on soft pads then it shouldn't take too long for you to develop a little bit more mucle and stamina so you dont get as tired as fast.

peace

Neo old style metal pad review:

Well I got my metal pad off ebay about a week ago the first thing I noticed about it was how nice it looked other than the fact the rubber feet were attached to the bottom. Which leads me to my first must do mod, removal of the rubber feet. Second was the testing of it, well everything worked good, even though I was very afraid of getting over zelous with the arrows being acrylic and all, but they have held up fine to this day (15-20 hours of play). Well after about 8 hours of nonstop play my right arrow gives so I'm rather peaved. I open it up and wow what a surprise a shoddy solder job came undone disgust.gif . An easy fix took about 2 minutes to fix including heating up the iron. Overall once that was done I've had no trouble with it, shoot go out n buy one from neo its super simple anything goes replace it no biggy.

Ok, I have a question. I haven't been on the board in months, and I just find out today my parents are looking to get me something for Christmas, and I decide that it would be sweet if they would purchase all the materials for me to build my own metal pad. And they agreed! So now here's the question...are there any new groundbreaking metal pads (like ddrhomepad or riptide's) that have come out in the past 6 months or so...or are those two still the basic ones to follow while building your own? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a ton

I regret not buy a CF... actually I have a 60 day warrenty on the RO one so I'm gonna probably return it and buy a CF... cause it is only 100 more... and worth it.

I just ordered a Cobalt Flux metal pad few days ago before the Christmas deadline and I live in Turkey. I had to pay $200+ for the shipping via UPS so it was quite a great deal for me since there are NO ddr machines in Turkey, and it will arrive in 2 days.

Believe it or not but I'm buying the PS2 just to play DDR for now..it became a MUST after I first met the DDR machine at London..

So guys now I have the Cobalt Flux pad, but I don't have a PS2 or any kind of games to play with.Since my CF will arrive soon, I must buy a PS2 and few games..

So here are my questions!!!

So which PS2 is the best for me? They are selling PAL versions in Turkey, but I can also find the NTSC American one for the same price.

But will it play the Japanese DDR games?

If not, should I get a Japanese DDR..?

This time will a Japanese PS2 play the American games?

Also are there any PAL versions of the games?

Is there a possibility of a mod for PS2 to play any kind/region of games on the same machine?

ok, i have a problem with my RO Metal Pad.
I have had a Red Octane Metal Pad for around a month, and maybe a few days ago, the lights stopped blinking. I've tried everything, and nothing will work to get the lights back on.
So, I took the pads over to my friends house, and they worked perfectly, lights blinking and everything. So, when I got back to my house, I desperetely tried to find out what was going on. Nothing.
Could you guys maybe diagnose this problem? Thnx

Hey everyone, that's me that made the site on how to mod the pad, and i have an update about it, like i said i would.... So far me and my friend have played for the last 7 hours straight on it, all heavy, LoM passed, PS passed, This thing has taken a beating and it's still PERFECT. E1.gif My friend beat the encore extra stage, i played on endless for 45 minutes and again, everything is good. So far no problems to report. thumb.gif

Can anyone tell me how long the Red Octane Metal Pad lasts? Also, how does it perform? I know Cobalt Flux's are like the shit and all, but this is all I can afford, so I need the details on it.

Well it really depends upon how much you play. But, my friend has a RO metal pad and has had it for around 3 months, and it is falling apart. The frame is bending peices of sheet metal are bending and cracking. Just get the extra $100 and buy the CF.

Hey guys. I am building my own pad, and looking to wire it exactly like a Colbalt Flux. Does anoyone have a guide or diagram of the CF wiring? If so, That would be great! Please give me a PM, or a reply here. Thanks, and as soon as I finalize my wiring, I will post updates on how my pad is coming along.

6-8 hours a week, on average.

As much as I'd like a CF, my limit is dead set to $200(my mother offered to buy me the pad, but laughed at the price of the CF, so thats out of the question). So I'm torn between the Red Octane and the MyMyBox.

Hey I need some help with my pad. I bought it off lik-sang.com and I have had it for about a month now. I was playing and all of a sudden, the down arrow just kept going, even though i wasn't pressing it. Does anyone what is wrong and how can I fix it? If anyone knows the answer, please PM me. Thank you.
