I just ordered a Cobalt Flux metal pad few days ago before the Christmas deadline and I live in Turkey. I had to pay $200+ for the shipping via UPS so it was quite a great deal for me since there are NO ddr machines in Turkey, and it will arrive in 2 days.
Believe it or not but I'm buying the PS2 just to play DDR for now..it became a MUST after I first met the DDR machine at London..
So guys now I have the Cobalt Flux pad, but I don't have a PS2 or any kind of games to play with.Since my CF will arrive soon, I must buy a PS2 and few games..
So here are my questions!!!
So which PS2 is the best for me? They are selling PAL versions in Turkey, but I can also find the NTSC American one for the same price.
But will it play the Japanese DDR games?
If not, should I get a Japanese DDR..?
This time will a Japanese PS2 play the American games?
Also are there any PAL versions of the games?
Is there a possibility of a mod for PS2 to play any kind/region of games on the same machine? _________________

I've seen ads for a universal PS2, but I don't know if it's legit. Anyone know? Depending on prices, that might be your best bet, since it's more expensive than either PS2, but not that much more than a JPS2. The Japanese PS2 will play the Japanese games (both PS1 and PS2), the US PS2 will play the US ones. Modding a US PS2 to get it to play Japanese PS2 games is fairly simple (fliptop), though getting the stuff shipped there might not be. Modifying it to play Japanese PS1 games is, from what I've heard, not as simple. |

I believe all the 'DDR' games are NTSC but there are some PAL ones under the 'Dancing Stage' series (there are more DDR games than DancingStage though).
As far as PAL vs NTSC, you need the appropriate TV. If you have a PAL tv set, you'll only able to play the PAL ones, if you have an NTSC tv you'll only be able to play NTSC (if you have a multisync tv, it will do both). Also for some games you can find PAL<>NTSC patches so you can convert (although not all patches seem to work so don't depend on this).
The easiest way to play games from different area would be to get a modchip. A US PS2 with a modchip, will play all the games (save a few of the early PS1 titles that have modchip detection) (and you still have the PAL/NTSC issues). Depending on the type/version of the modchip you get, you may not even need a 'flip-top' or to use a bootdisk.
Hope this helps,
