After reading this thread I noticed a TON of misinformation about ITG. Why don't you just directly ask them about stuff as well as tell them exactly what you like, dislike, or want changed

Um.. yeah... stupid. I guess 40 songs that aren't regurgitated or rehashed from any other dancing game and are essentially new to the dance game world are stupid, huh?
Well, if you want to think about it this way, there is some connection to DDR already...
E-ROTIC, Missing Heart, Spacekats (also known as Rikki & Daz, and Daz also being the former MC of Bus Stop. He performed the raps in songs like 'Kung-Fu Fighting' and 'Kick The Can')
All of these artists featured on DDR at one time or another!
Anyway, if anyone at all cares about this, they just added these songs to the songlist a few days ago...
Bend Your Mind - Reflection Theory
Dreams of Passion - Dax
I'll Get There Anyway - Sammi Morelli
Lemmings on the Run - E-ROTIC (!!!)
Let Me Be The One - Sammi Morelli
Not Worth The Paper - Dax
Touch Me - E-ROTIC (!!!)
(Pointless Info: I believe 'Let Me Be The One' was featured in an episode of Smallville last season.)
So it's about 47 songs now, and I'm sure that they're not anywhere done with this yet.
Let's stop the hating people. Oh! I agree on the whole No-Ayumi thing too. |

I thought ITG had broken 50 alreayd, if not they soon will and they sure aren't stopping there.
On a side note 1st mix only had 8 songs
1.5 mix only had 13
Can't remember the exact number but I heard that USA, 2nd mix and 3rd mix all had less than 50 songs.
6th mix only had 38.
Point being with over 50 new songs already, if ITG get's a chance they should have hundreds of songs just by 2nd or 3rd release.
Also if want to see certain songs why don't you simply request them in their forum? However be warned if you do this you may actually get what you want and not be able to complain anymore |

Well... according to the site, it was about 47 when I checked this morning, and they just added 6 new songs when I checked a few minutes ago... which brings the count to 53 songs.
The songs are...
Mouth - Rochelle (!)
No.1 Nation - Anet
Torn - Natalie Browne
Tough Enough - Vanilla Ninja
Why Me - Desire
Xuxa - Smiley
By the way, Rochelle is the very same Rochelle (Oops...! I Did It Again) from 5th Mix. So that's another DDR-related artist. Very nice.
EDIT: Oh, and for anyone who cares, 'Torn' by Natalie Browne is a dance cover of the same song by Natalie Imbruglia. I don't know if 'Mouth' by Rochelle is an original song, or a dance cover... I'll have to find out.

Off the top of my head, I believe it was 48... but I know it was more than 40, but less than 50.

Don't I know it!! I never whined about the game or anything like that... but I definitely got something that I didn't get the chance to ask for!! 'Touch Me' by E-ROTIC, one of my favorite songs by them! I'm a happy camper, very nice! I hope they get a few more by them...
Thank you for reading. |

Whoah, that webcast was quite a while ago.
It definitely gave a good glimpse into what kind of music is in In the Groove, though. That is, for those of us who aren't anywhere near the testing location up there at Illusionz!
Has anyone heard any of the songs from In The Groove yet? (There's a tentative songlist at roxorgames.com's testers board) |

yeah I'm a little late but WOW you guys are giving these guys wayyy too much shit.. let's see you walk into an arcade and get DDR hardware to interface with a Linux system in a week.. and he was probably defending the game because.. I dunno.. he was RIGHT?
hopefully you guys can completely overhaul the graphics because right now they reek.. dunno what you have planned but I'd add a border at the bottom of the screen (and a thin one around the sides too shit) because it looks ugly as hell without anything there.. and remember sometimes a lower framerate is a good thing
"techno" ........................................
if you're really serious about this game.. you know what I want to see, I want to see shit like Night at the Roxbury style, shit that actually makes you want to get up and move (remember freestyle? before they flooded DDR with Jenny ROM and other songs that make me want to cry).. some newage disco would own too (think Disco Groove nonstop).. but if not that, since this is targeted at an american audience, at least use some mid 90s pop or something, but please PLEASE not generic "techno" and PLEASE not techno from independent artists (I know you're trying to support them, that's cool, but you're trying to support yourself too) it might work for PC sims but in the arcade? come on now
also it's insanely easy for someone to write fun keyboard sim steps.. and most of them would absolutely blow ass if they were played on an actual arcade cabinet.. but I'm sure you guys know that already
well those are my suggestions.. have fun |

I love the idea of this. See what happens when you have an open source game. All those wonderful ideas and suggestion get made into something special (and good I hope). _________________

I have some ITG pictures taken a couple of weeks ago
http://rampage.theficus.com/gallery/album60
Here's my accompanying blog entry (http://rampage.theficus.com/archives/000598.html)
Another entry on In the Groove
So, when I was at Illusionz yesterday, I spent about an hour playing ITG and took a bunch of pictures. The pictures are here in my gallery.
Here are some observations for today.
* The difficulty level needs tweaking. In one song, I missed a few steps in a row and my lifebar was near-empty.
* When your lifebar goes empty, you can NEVER recover it. That's kind of messed up. Kind of defeats the purpose of having no auto-fail.
* The difficulty curve between Medium and Hard mode is way too high on many songs. Medium is way too easy for me and Hard is way too hard. Perhaps this points more toward the previous two notes rather than me simply being a sucky player.
* I found out that "Overhead" mode makes the arrows scroll like in DDR. With scrolling options like Incoming, Overhead, Space, Hallway, and Distant, how could I *not* know that I should have used that one? I asked this in IRC..
<ramp^work> but how am i supposed to know that "overhead" mode is like ddr?
<DevilWarrior> I dunno
<DevilWarrior> Play SM?
* Please. For the love of god, get rid of the dumb warning message.
* I really like the high score system. It's per-song and per-difficulty.
* I really like the IIDX-style ranking screen.
Bugs:
* It gives a "Access to next song CLEARED" message even if you don't have any songs left.
* When scrolling through the multi-page options screen, the bottom continues to prompt you to go down for more options when there aren't any left.
* It had a big skipping problem. Nearly every song I played would freeze during the first 30 seconds and get all whacked out causing me a bunch of misses.
* Timing felt off during some songs. Perhaps it was related to it being slightly out of sync after songs would freeze momentarily.
Other than that, it was fun and like I've said a bunch of times before, it shows a bunch of promise.
That's it for now.. |

Atleast you guys only killed a Disneys rave!
Obviously this thing isnt going to run on the bemani System 573, how easy will this be to install for arcade managers? They just cant swap a card and a disc. Since its a different system, wouldnt you be able to fit the computer AND the 573 in there so you can have DDR and ITG? Just incase no one likes ITG.... ... Will you guys *eventually* sell your own cabinets instead of hacking a DDR machine? _________________

Personally, I just hate it. I hate the idea that "In the Groove" is going to replace DDR. I would never play it!!! It's like an americanized DDR and theres not point to it. |
