The Christmas of Fire site has a petition going to keep DDR alive in the arcades! They only have 38 signitures, and if we know Konami they are going to want well over 10,000! So please help and take some time to sign the petition!

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Can we get this on the main page? That will rack up a lot more signatures than just having it hidden under all these topics in the forums.

It worked with Beatmania IIDX because KONAMI RAN THAT PETITION. I'll remind the world that DDRSpot ran their own IIDX petition at least 6 months ago and it did fuck all.

Folks, I don't mean to be a downer, but online petitions rarely ever achieve anything. To directly address the points in the petition:

-A hardware upgrade is no guarantee that the next version will sell any better. In fact, it's a huge cost for Konami in production and selling with a small potential payoff.

-Same thing with reopening Konami's american arcade division. What's the cost versus the payoff? And would US arcades really upgrade when endless US players who only care about Japanese mixes refuse to play anything other than Extreme?

-Neither of these points even address the issue that DDR has lost nearly all of its popularity in Japan.

I realize a lot of people here will do anything to keep their dreams of DDR alive, and that's very admirable, but having players do a petition isn't going to be worthwhile for anyone.

What would be more worthwhile is having arcade owners write directly to KOJ/KOA and ask for a new arcade mix. Konami does not make its money in the arcade off of people plugging quarters in, it makes it off operators upgrading. If THEY convince Konami that a large number would order an upgrade, they'd be more likely to listen.

Again, sorry to be a downer, but I've been around enough and seen enough online petitions to know they just don't work.

We have to keep the legacy alive! we will not let the revolution die!

We will keep it alive, and make it rise to the top, There cannot be an end to this, we have to have a 9th mix, a 10thmix an 11thmix, and so on. It has to keep going.

I am going to sign the petition to keep it alive, because I care, as a DDR player it's something I like to do, having that taken from me would be pretty harsh.

Before you know it, people who can't get their hands on ddr anymore, some would turn fat and sit there all day from lack of amusement.

Even if DDR itself dies it will still carry on in so many different ways. Take Stepmania for example, we now have a huge following of people making their own songs. A company called Roxor games is also making an arcade machine based on Stepmania. So chin up. DDR in some form or another will never die.

Will arcades with DDR machines still be able to get replacement parts or repairs for their machines?

I'm locking this because the petition that is linked in this thread is the same on as the petition linked in the Arcade Forum.
