What is up with Naoki and the Maxes?

I mean... what's up with the story behind Max Man, the Trenchcoat Dude, and Max Girl? And what about Naoki's Zoids-like Robotic jet-propelled Tiger and Lion-faced robot?

We know that from the BM IIDX 9 video of Paranoia Survivor Max, that Max Man has a capsule of watchamacallit (coolness, color of the world, political liberalism, whatever you want to call it), and that Trenchcoat Dude is bent on getting it back. At the end, we finally see him get it back, color is restored to everything, and the vid file ends. This basic theme runs through Legend of Max and Leading Cyber.

But on the Extreme version of Genom Screams, Max Man (in blue, methinks) is once again being chased by Trenchcoat Dude (in red), only to find that a third Max Girl (in yellow) is now being persued. By the end of the video, Max Man and Trenchcoat Dude join forces to chase Max Girl across the globe... what's up with that?

And what's with Naoki's fascination with giant robotic mechs and armored animal machinima? They're in nearly every Naoki song- B2U (all versions), B4U (all versions), D2R, 1998, just about every one except Still in My Heart.

And all I have to say is... wow, I need a life.
